Not a whole lot of captains even say that at DAL-S, at least not the ones I've flown with. Most just say, "Let's read it," or just use the name, such as, "Before Start," or "Approach." They leave out the word checklist.

Kinda like the A330 captain that told me he hasn't heard anyone at DAL-N use the whole "Pressure normal" mantra and doesn't know why you guys got blamed for using it.

All the guys I fly with are using the phraseology and most of the rampers just grunt, or laugh.

You must be getting the winners! Even flew with a LCA who thought it was the most asinine thing he'd heard. Didn't use it one in four days.

Man...I'm fittin' in better 'n better every day. You just can't imagine how we've been "nit-picked" over the years.

Most are by the book to a T.

Buck,

NRT goes to all the west coast "gateways" (LAX, SEA, SFO and I think we still do PDX) plus HNL.

PS...........almost forgot DTW:eek::D

Ferd - any places out of MNL other than NGO or NRT ? The web site shows MNL_HNL but when I look at the schedule there are no scheduled flights, unless this is seasonal service.

Since JAL and others pulled out of MNL those flights have gotten very full.

Thanks for the help.

I guess I have never heard anyone not say "pressure normal," as far as "nit picking"....it makes it much easier when you know what everyone is going to do, and say. Since there will be lots of changes on the Cat2/3 call outs to name just a few ...sure would be nice if everyone was on the same page.

Buck,

Yeah, MNL only goes to NGO or NRT as far as I know. If it shows HNL it's probably because it connects through NRT.

Just a thought for an adventure.........take a look at MNL to GUM to HNL on Contential. May be fun too.

For us it will be a lot easier when we go to your way. We call out everything. When that comes out in a little bit it will be a lot less for the FO/PM to do.

I think ACL 65 scares them with is over preparedness, showing up early, all aligned, noises made, walk around done and taxi and enroute charts at the ready. It takes the Captains a couple of legs to wind down and figure out he isn't some sort of a Line Check First Officer (yet :) ). As a reserve, sometimes a couple of legs is all you get.

The smallest of items can arouse suspicion. Like using a lanyard instead of the little spring clip for your ID. I had a Captain comment that only the LCA's & management types use the lanyards.

I'm not sure how to respond when asked about these new procedures. Frankly, it will be ten years before I command the pushback procedure and my priorities are coordinating with the ramp tower, ensuring we don't hit anything or blow anything over and getting the engine(s) started. Whether or not someone talks about the bypass pin and pressure normal just does not rise that high on my list, although I do like being able to physically see the pin as the ramper walks away. It is easy to fake a call out, harder to fake actually having the in in your hand (although that trick has been done too).
