Quick non-rev question.....

For an international flight, will revenue stby passengers designated HK on the airport standby list be bumped for a business class seat in lieu of an S4 on standby. I was under the impression that the policy is to leave the business class seat empty and the HK will get rebooked on the next flight if they don't want to pay to upgrade or have a ticket that even allows them to upgrade by paying or using skymiles. Clear as mud?

Thanks!

Is it common to have gs stay open on your timecard for a while? Trips since then are showing already closed. ?????

Any guesses how senior those 49 330 A slots will go in ATL? I'm wondering because the senior-most 330 instructor is #1207 on the seniority list. I personally think there is more than a slight chance that the entire 330 instructor cadre could be displaced off the airplane on this bid. Interesting times.

Pretty sure they won't make it below 5000. :D

I think it used to be that way but I heard they changed that last year. I'm curious too, does anyone else know? I was under the impression that if coach is over-booked they will upgrade the highest level FF (platinum or gold or whatever it is) and then put the revenue standby in coach.

HKs almost always get seated in coach. S4s will get business if seats are available in that cabin.

But when international flights are overbooked, they can move 'qualified' frequent flyers to business and thus make room for HKs in coach....leaving non-revs in the dust!

That will depend on how desperate the guys are. Since it will fly Africa, and HI during high season, it's tough to say if those ultra senior guys want to spend a week in Africa for the chance on doing a 4 day to HI. It's amazing some guys think the 330 it's going to take Europe out of ATL, when everybody is cutting capacity and frequency, some guys think we are going to increase capacity by 20-30%... I seriously don't think so.

Question for the AE experts. If one bids %'s on their current aircraft in hopes of continuing to hold a line, followed by a new category with no restrictions(i.e. ATL 320B @ 75%, MSP 7Er) and then fills out a VD for a new category is it possible to hold that percentage but still be awarded the VD?

In short, if you can hold the lowest % you are requesting on your AE card for your current aircraft, will you hose yourself out of a possible line by submitting a VD? Or will the company say "Ok, so and so wants XX% and will hold that on the conversion date therefore we won't even look at his/her VD/MD cards".....???

Thanks in advance, and hope this makes sense. :o

I think I understand what you're asking.

AE

Pref 1. My category xx%
Pref 2. Other category

If the computer can honor Pref 1 or Pref 2 of your AE, it will dump your VD prefs. That said, I can't imagine a scenario where your VD prefs wouldn't match exactly with your AE prefs.

VD

Pref 1. My category xx%
Pref 2. Other category

International deadhead question

My trip ends with a deadhead from NRT to DTW and it must be a business class seat per the contract. If I deviate from the scheduled deadhead and fly from NRT to JFK, am I still required to get a business class seat...or am I on my own?

Carl,

If there is a seat available in business class when you book the flight you will get it, but if the business seats are already sold they're not going to take one from a paying passenger.
