What Wilbur said, plus, you can book it yourself in iCrew but not before your report time for the rotation. For biz class deviation on the front end you have to call scheduling. For back end the iCrew Jumpseat/Deadhead template under NRSA Travel will allow you to book Biz Class for deviating deadheads that were previously scheduled as over-water deadheads on your original rotation.

Carl

My understanding is since your original DH is an ocean crossing you are entitled to a PS business class seat.

Question for the AE experts. If one bids %'s on their current aircraft in hopes of continuing to hold a line, followed by a new category with no restrictions(i.e. ATL 320B @ 75%, MSP 7Er) and then fills out a VD for a new category is it possible to hold that percentage but still be awarded the VD?

In short, if you can hold the lowest % you are requesting on your AE card for your current aircraft, will you hose yourself out of a possible line by submitting a VD? Or will the company say "Ok, so and so wants XX% and will hold that on the conversion date therefore we won't even look at his/her VD/MD cards".....???

Thanks in advance, and hope this makes sense. :o

I think Wilbur answered it above, but as long as your VD card matches you AE card exactly then you will be fine.

For example, your VD card (matching your AE) reads:

1. ATL320B 75%
2. MSP7ER

It will stop when it gets to #1 if you can hold it. If not, then it doesn't matter if it's an AE or VD, you wouldn't have held it either way. As long as both cards match, you can't (as far as I can tell) get something below what you can hold.

Was that the question? Or did I completely mis-interpret what you were asking? :D

As you posted that on Thursday, AA got approval from the FAA...

The APA is working with AA and the FAA on a trial using iPads to eliminate manuals and paper charts for all phases of flight according to FO Hank Putek a member of the APA Safety Committee.

The trials are initially on AA's 777 from LAX to NRT and PVG

I thought the contract mandated that Carl ALWAYS flies first class...no questions asked!

George, I did a internet search and I can't find where they got approved. Would love to see a reference. They FAA is allowing them to test the Ipad however they will still carry Jepps as a backup. AMR wants it for all phases of flight but the FAA as far as I can tell is only allowing testing at this point.

If the computer can honor Pref 1 or Pref 2 of your AE, it will dump your VD prefs. That said, I can't imagine a scenario where your VD prefs wouldn't match exactly with your AE prefs.
