I get the issues DPA has, really I do. If you want to effect change in your career, now is the time to get to those darn LEC meetings, talk to your reps, and if they have their heads shoved too far up their six, recall them. If you opt not to engage on that level, the division of this group will kill us going forward. If I were in management I know exactly what I would be doing to divide this group. Heck another SLI during a section six would be a good starting point, and then pit the junior versus the senior and all hell will break loose.

We get some horrible deal, and guess what, it will be 2020 before DPA, or ALPA will get another at bat to right it. By my calculations most of the captains will be gone by then.

Not an apologist for DPA, and have not sent in my card. Yet. But if the contract comparisons are what I interpret them to be (data collated to 'set us up' for a 10-20% raise), THEN I WILL send my card in. Hope the MEM reps are reading. I know one of them agrees w/ me...

Unfortunately, he doesn't get a vote. I don't think the other two are on board with a whole lot more than that. You might want to check that out for yourself.

That was my take as well Chuck. 10-20% isn't going to do it for me. I'm still banking on ALPA but I won't be if we settle short of SWA +.

None of the Captains will be gone. They will just have changed names. :) However, their priorities will be different than when they were more junior.
The wheel just keeps on spinning.

I agree. Heck 25-30% will not cut it. I have been spending many layover dinners talking to multiple crews and many have the a position that is much stronger than many realize.

I flew a trip with an LEC chair a while back. He had a thorough explanation and breakdown of labor costs and explained why asking for even 10% wasn't feasible. For me, this solidified my decision to send in my dpa card. Just my humble opinion, though.

Funny, but those guys with a vote today, that are currently in the left seat, will be gone. Not the positions, Duh!

Speaking of airliners.net, someone put together an interesting operational analysis of Delta's wide body fleet.

Now that is a interesting report. I like their conclusions. I will go further by stating that DAL needs Widebody jets, yesterday. If we do not take delivery of some WB metal in short order UCAL will have the upper hand that our management did not want them to get. We are paying off debt for a reason, and my position is to acquire a carrier that has WB's on order, as well as some route authorities we want.
