Hey I tried to put up a resolution that would change the policy manual, but the guy in the room did not like it.

Most in the room felt that the reps should be given the latitude to do what they do, which is represent us. If you do not like that, there is a LEC44 meeting on Aug 8th.

Which is exactly why the DPA is gaining more and more support by the day. The DPA doesn't really even have to promote itself, the entrenched ALPA types do the best job of it all on their own... all while being too oblivious and drowning in kool-aid to understand why.

DALPA is on thin, thin ice. National is already wet.

The ALPA-PAC is all about electing far-left politicians. That's not an appropriate function of an Airline Pilot's union.

Carl

Wrong again Carl, unless you consider Senator Orin Hatch (R) from Utah a far left-politician. ALPA-PAC supports candidates based not on their party affiliation, but rather on their position on issues important to professional pilots. This year the ALPA-PAC Steering Committee posted the following with regards to who they will support.

"The Steering Committee distributes ALPA-PAC support based solely on a candidate’s position on issues that directly affect airline pilots. Recent examples of such issues include:
  • airport access (CrewPASS),
  • oil prices,
  • bankruptcy reform,
  • the FFDO program,
  • pensions issues,
  • cabotage and foreign control,
  • family and medical leave for flight crews,
  • a wide variety of specific safety issues.
Only after carefully reviewing the voting records and political positions of incumbents or interviewing candidates on issues of direct interest to ALPA is a determination made as to who will most likely support airline pilots. These are the candidates who receive contributions from ALPA-PAC. All ALPA-PAC recipients have either demonstrated their support for ALPA’s position on key legislative issues or it is believed they will be valuable friends to ALPA on future initiatives
ALPA-PAC is one of the most bipartisan labor PACs in Washington, DC, supporting candidates without regard to party affiliation. ALPA-PAC is the only way that ALPA national participates directly in the federal election process; ALPA national does not use any member dues money for this purpose."

Dear Reroute:

Is this the same kind of thing as ALPA publishing that they helped the TWA pilots to the best of their ability? Or publishing that they've never destroyed documents or computer hard drives? Or publishing that they are utterly opposed to age 65? Or publishing they are utterly committed to the 1500 hour rule? Or publishing they are utterly committed to not caving in on FT/DT?

This statement about what the ALPA-PAC does is pure BS like the many examples of BS I've listed above. ALPA's affiliation with the AFL-CIO has forced us to back some of the most far left politicians we have in the nation. The excuse for it is that these same politicians back an ALPA interest.

Flying with a captain who had an LEC rep on the jumpseat about a month ago. Told him that basically they have been working on an upcoming merger for a while. Captains impression was this wasn't just for due diligence but rather working on the details of it.Asked if it was Alaska or Hawaiian, rep said neither but would not say who....place your bets....who and when??!! And NO, I cant say who the rep was.

Do you really expect any different result? If scope was not sacrosanct under Moak it's not now.

If your rep is that weak, recall him. I'm confident mine think for themselves, and aren't under the influence of the Moak mind meld...
