How about... All flying to be done by Delta pilots except those joint venture and codeshare agreements that were submitted to the pilot group at large and individually approved by a majority vote. All contracts approved prior to the amendable date must be approved by pilot vote.

Hence, if these contracts are good for us... Prove it.

Carl, or could it be that the majority of pilots don't take orders from a minority of wrongheaded zealots making trying to make a irrelevant point?
If the DPA is worried about ALPA's "conflict" then they should have put the percentage into the territory where it would actually effect ALPA members. The Skywest pilots alone do 20% and ALPA does not represent them.
IMHO - pretty darn arrogant to be telling pilots how to respond on THEIR survey! But if you are going to tell them how to respond, at least make it a relevant figure. I like 1
%, at least for starters.

It is my experience, and YMMV, that a fairly sizeable chunk of the pilots I work with are somewhat disengaged. They dont know who did what to whom or any details of our outsourcing, codesharing, jv, etc.
Now with that, I will caveat that an equally sizeable chunk are extremely plugged in and aware. Some of them to a point that is downright amazing.
With group 2, I dont have any concern or issue with what opinion they put in their survey...It is an educated one and even if they are in disagreement with me, I dont care because they are thoughtful enough on their topics.
With group 1, if they breeze through the union materials, they receive what I consider to be a sugar coated display of the world around them. With the ones that dont even breeze through the materials, I am frustrated.
I dont know what the fix is for the above situation, but is it really wrong to be frustrated with group 1? Is it arrogant to be frustrated? Are people who try to stay on top of what is going on, but who are frustrated with ALPA really zealots?
Does namecalling prove any point regardless of which side of the aisle it comes from.
I'm usually a "glass half full kinda guy", but this is different. What's the over/under of guys who are actually going to take the time to complete the survey?
I say 3000 of our 12000 pilots take the survey.
(Disclaimer: After contract ratification 9000 will complain about it.)
Fly safe,
GJ
P.S. Again, hoping that all 12000 take the time to fill out the survey, but optimism has proven futile to the masses at times.

I don't, but with your attitude it seems as though you "just must".
Hey Mr. Informed, I have a question for you.
What is the pay a Delta pilot on FPL makes in a month? (and how is that number determined for a bonus point)
Let me know what you find out and where you found it.

Haven't gotten to the actual survey yet because I'm still shaking my head over this part of the email:
Note: Questions 28 and 29 concern pay rate increases and ask you to enter a number. You should answer each question with a two-digit number, e.g. express 5% as 05, 12% as 12, etc.
Don't you just love DALPA's template? The fact that they even talk about how to express a single digit pay rate increase is ridiculous enough. But what example do they use for a two digit pay rate increase?...12%! Not 50%, not 80%? What about how to input a three digit desire?

I don't see that it's a big deal to have the option of a single digit answer. There may be some (misguided) guys out there that want to enter a low number; they should understand how to do that.
There are (or will be) plenty of things to get spun up over during Section 6 negotiations; this isn't one of them.

Carl, you must not think much of your fellow pilots. Do you really think any of us would be swayed by the sample number in the explanation? I'm thinking that 99.99% of us wouldn't be affected.

Anyone have a good picture of a straw man we can post?
