I loved (not really) their direction to use "absolutely critical" judiciously. Cant a lot of things be "absolutely critical?" I think so. Like, almost all of them?;)

I only used "absolutely critical" for the scope, compensation and reroute areas. Is that judicious? :p

As I did that survey, I realized how bad our contract is. I put down 60 percent in the raise column up front with 5 percent for subsequent years. I was reasonable and honest.

I think your position is completely reasonable. Guys, we've "taken it on the chin" WRT our current contract.
>39% paycut
>what are you paying for health care these days---it certainly ain't a $20 co-pay like we had at one time. I'm spending about $4000 a year on my family...
>retirement. What retirement???? Got a "B" fund, no pension....
>scope....Does anybody like parking next to an E175, and realize that's our regional partner's aircraft???
Hockeypilot44, your survey results are very reasonable. At least the part of it I've seen.
Respectfully,
Chuck

Does DAL self insure? Yes

UHC administers DALs insurance program

Health insurance improvements are a no cost item which structured as they are put a price tag on the insurance. It is really no different that the fee for departure contracts outsourced to DCI. We bear the cost, but charge ourselves for the program to make the books prettier.

I repeat, no cost to change the system. However, an accountant could/would disagree.

There will be a short countdown after which I will be told how oh so wrong I am.

I don't think so. There is no reason why we (DAL and DALPA) can't put together a plan that allows retirees to leave without fear and without it being added as a "cost" item against the contract.

Just logged on to start my contract survey, and one of my secret logon words that I had to re-type to get into the survey was "knewno." how weird is that?

I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm on "the list."

(I knew I shouldn't have argued that DC-9 pilots should be exempt from the yellow fever vaccine requirement.) ;)

Maybe the CEO doesn't know anyone to contact at UHC? TIC

What is she saying? That I would bring an EF-4 to her room?

Stephanie Abrams, I had to look it up. You're talking about a Weather Channel girl right?

My wife interviewed at the weather channel for a job a few years back. At the time the building was incognito. They evidently had so many problems with crazies coming after the weather channel girls that they hid the fact it was where 285 and I75 come together and there was pretty good security.

Which reminds me, years ago on one of the Cheers episodes Cliff Claven fell in love with one of the girls on the weather channel. So he wrote her a letter expressing his love. She wrote him back, shocking everyone, and he all excited read it out loud at the bar. A sentence or two in she writes "judging from your handwriting I can tell you must be at least 8 years old!" :D

To look at the flip side---do we (corporately speaking--not as a Seniority List Pilot) really want to assist age 60+ pilots when we are facing a large pilot shortage?

There are plenty of RJ pilots who want to fly for us. Delta would rather have pilots with less longevity to fly these planes, it's cheaper per hour. If everyone flying is at the top of the scale longevity wise (all 12th year), then that is expensive. A 3rd year FO on the 767 costs less than a 12th year guy. Everyone has to pass the sims and IOE, so you can't pull that card. It is cheaper to have newer Delta people on our mainline equipment, and then you and I get to be their captains. Give the geezers help and return "normal" upgrade times to the industry. 9-11, BK, and age 65 have killed the usual progression of this so called career.
