Who cares, it's over. Time to look forward. I'm happy that we got through the merger and the recession without furloughs. Now we're in a good spot to move forward with our contract. Lets focus on that.
Call me confused, but don't all of those things reduce the amount of money ALPA spends out of our dues? Isn't this what everyone has been asking for? Spend less of my money on things like an LEC office and secretary. It sounds pretty damn responsible of ALPA to me. Save money instead of spending it. What a concept.
That being said, where did this rumor originate, and is there ANY truth to it?
question: does EasySwap still work for calculating / checking swap with the pot things? Anyone use it?

Flew with LCA recently told me same thing. They want people to leave above 3500 seniority or something, not sure where they came up w that number.
I told him it sounds like they need to sweeten the deal for more to leave or they would have already done it. He agreed.

I read the Council 20 letter. A committee was formed at the direction of the Executive Council. They made a report. Then the governing structure will make a decision. There will be a vote. If the C+BL need to be changed then the entire Board of Directors will vote. That is democracy. Tell me what is wrong about that?
Are things that bad?Is the engine room flooding?

BTW, Where did the swap with friends go? Everything disappeared yesterday.
Trust, but verify. It's a multi-step process.
I make deals every day. Each one there are pros and cons.
I sure as heck want to know the downsides before I cast a vote. Anything else is irresponsible.
I see that the folks who wanted to end-run the 4 man team didn't get their way at National. Nice to know, however, that they want to get rid of the non-voting reps so that the workload for the remaining two goes up, leading potentially to DTW having the highest rep-to-pilot ratio in ALPA.
Oh, yea, they want to close the local field offices so everything has to go through National. Yippie.
Oh, and this is my fav:
Potential option to replace the non-status representative with an LEC Executive Administrator (EA)....and guess what? NOT ELECTED, APPOINTED!
Anyone else wanting to read this stuff, check out the 9/23 Council 20 update.

No issue with getting rid of LEC offices, that makes a lot of sense, and a lot of people would choose that over having their dues raised.

First, can someone post the letter?
The lack of trust is completely legitimate. The way Compass's sale was facilitated is a prime example of our members' democratic direction and policy (requiring study) being acted against. If you want specific names, I've got no problem naming them and their voting record. Your call.

Compass's sale was facilitated when the entity was first made during NWA's bankruptcy. Why in the heck would NWA management fight so hard with the pilots to make it separate?
The matter of representation is absolutely a red herring. We have fragmentation language in our contract. Delta could sell 36 Compass jets or 36 767's tomorrow and there is not a thing we could do about either. Read the contract. Whether or not Compass was represented by the Delta MEC or their own MEC had absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the sale of Compass.
Just because you didn't get your way, doesn't mean that policy wasn't followed. What policy was violated? If they only way to earn your trust is to do exactly what you say 100% of the time, then you don't trust anyone.

Never mind ... Nu's right and the dirty laundry does no good on a public forum. If anyone really needs the documentation that shows the TRUTH about what Alpha's been posting, just PM me and I'll steer you towards the relevant documents. Maybe we need to move this debate to the ALPA Board.
