I don't think that would matter if it was a hacker's own, fake network where everything was recorded. That's way more dangerous than someone just spying on you while on another "secure" network.

Who told you none of the money is going to Qantas? Did it occur to you that these companies might just have relationships which helps Qantas while they park their airplanes?
The typical Qanta pax if ultimately taken care of may not think any thing of it if minorily inconvenienced.

 

Typically when an airline work group strikes, they want the competition to poach as much revenue and market share from the company they are striking. Not sure about any murky tertiary issues like "strike insurance" and/or some kind of revenue sharing as you brought up though. The article basically said Virgin Australia was looking into their partners to pick up the Qantas slack. That in and of itself would be good for the Qantas work groups because it would put ever increasing pressure on their current and future bottom line as long as revenue wasn't shared with Qantas over it.

 

Look it up on Flightaware.com. Put in DAL184 in top left box for flight number, and then scroll down and look at the flights each night from JFK to CDG (there is an aircraft change from Portland to JFK, a 73N, and then onto CDG). It says every other night in the last month has been a 767-300. Why would it be a 747-400 tonight ONLY? Maybe they expect more passengers tomorrow. If it were a charter, it would have 4 digits like 9939. Pretty smart, eh?

That is just a self-serving rationalization to work with management to put your competition, and incidentally your union brothers, out of business. I was on the EAL BOS strike committee and I don't remember anyone there asking Delta's pilots to work extra to put us out of business and work. How'd you like JB adding sections if you go out? Perhaps, UAL could add extra sections out of Atlanta.

If your theory held water, SW coming into ATL should help your upcoming negotiations.

I think it does. Our biggest competitor in our biggest hub has domestic narrowbody pilots that are paid about 50% higher than our domestic narrowbody pilots.

I especially like the way FTB puts it. Why does Delta pay it's female and minority pilots about 33% less than SWA pays it's white, male pilots?

Interesting theory, but I think your metaphor is reaching just a wee bit. The case of "putting someone out of work" doesn't remotely apply here. And you know as well as we all do here that work stoppages in Europe are as common there as retarded politicians are here. IF this 747 is in response to that, (and I am not necessarily convinced one way or the other that it is or isn't) then that is a management decision, and I am sure that if this does in some way violate protocol and cover struck work that ALPA would be on top of that and not allow it. Yours is an interesting theory though, and it does bring up a question about how we are intertwined in these JVs. Wayyyy over my little pea brain's ability to comprehend. However, if Etihad or Emirates went on strike, I would really hope that ALL the US carriers would go after them like a pit bull on Michael Vick.

Oh, and I think SWA coming into ATL DOES help our negotiations.
