Anyone know why we're now locked out of the crew room in LGA at night? No one is allowed in there between 9pm and 4am.

You have no idea what it is to lose the majority of your team... we have FIVE seniors playing... five. The starting QB is a true freshman that was going to be redshirted... but hey... Jack Daniels comes from Tennessee too

That's rough. What if every base did that? I'll be honest, I thought about sleeping in one of our DALN bases crew rooms last week when we landed at 2am and was going to deadhead out on a 530am flight. Didn't seem worth going to the hotel. But I went. And didn't sleep a wink. |

Someone said that apparently an employee decided to use the crew room as a bathroom and left a bottle of urine in there. So now no one is allowed during those hours.

Maybe he should have just used an empty Mike's Hard Lemonade bottle... unless the CP is running a lab test? Why the heck is the CP locking out the rest of the pilots? I believe the crew rooms are contractual 24/7... contact your alpo rep. |

There's a pretty good negotiator's notepad that came out soon after the merger that explains the whole AE process (including reinstatements).
I don't think you are seatlocked if you are reinstated, but someone that's had that happen firsthand will come along shortly and confirm or set me straight. The notepad is on Deltanet somewhere. Maybe near the bottom of the Crew Resources page. You can probably also find it somewhere in the File Library on the DALPA MEC website. |

Can you be re-instated to a BASE/CATEGORY where a vacancy has not been posted?

But as to your question, that's intriguing. Reinstatement's are run with the AE's, not MDs or VDs. I would guess that if there is a lot of shuffling going on and now there are vacancies in that category and they intend to fill those vacancies then the reinstatement would kick in right along with how an AE would do it. FWIW, I went NYC ER to ATL ER when there were no vacancies posted on the AE. It says: A pilot who has been involuntarily displaced may be reinstated to the category from which he was displaced ahead of pilots attempting to bid into that category if a vacancy is posted in that category with a conversion period that begins within 180 days of the conversion date of the MD. Reinstatements to a category will be awarded in seniority order, and are processed as part of the AE bid awards. Available reinstatement rights are shown on the DBMS page for entering AE bid preferences. 23.F. says: Whatever you do check the box to say you desire reinstatement.12. A pilot who holds an MD will, without regard to the standing bids of senior pilots, be reinstated to the category from which he was displaced if: a. a vacancy is posted in such category and the earliest conversion date stated in the posting is within the 180 day period following the conversion date of his MD, b. his standing bid indicates a request for such reinstatement, and c. such vacancy has not been filled by reinstatement of a pilot senior to him who was also awarded an MD from such category. |
