How does the "count pilots holding a preference for a specific category" under AE bidding work? If someone is frozen but has a bid in does it count? It seems to me these numbers are a little high..Just wondering if there is any useful info to be found here..thanks
Frankly I always found those numbers worthless. When a buddy of mine got his first captain seat, there were about 150 people senior to him who had the bid in. He still got it. |

Thus far, they CNXed and we got ORD-CDG, and SEA-CDG, and they added CDG-CUN.
I believe their gauge changed down in atl from a 777-300 to a 777-200, and LAX was upgauged to a 380. Chicago CDG flying is only temporary from 30OCT11 to 24MAR12 The newly announced DTW CDG is also seasonal from 01JUN12 to 03SEP12 SEA CDG on the other hand looks to be permanent. Delta route downgauged to 7ER (previous aircraft): Atlanta – Accra – Monrovia (332) Atlanta – Barcelona (333) Atlanta – Dublin (333 during peak summer season) Atlanta – Madrid (764) Atlanta – Munich (764) Atlanta – Rome (764/333) New York JFK – Athens (333) New York JFK – Barcelona (333) New York JFK – Dublin (333) New York JFK – Istanbul (332) New York JFK – Madrid (764) New York JFK – Nice (764) New York JFK – Prague (332) Delta reduced many more frequencies from daily to four-5 a week. Too many to list... Virgin Australia codeshare in LAX just started, the JV is imminent and Virgin will be parking at LAX T5... Coming soon: Air Europa codeshare to Spain. WestJet in MIA and LAX Glad were not hiring for 2012 ;-) Cheers George |

anyone who has an AE bid in for a category counts in those numbers. They could have a freeze or they could have restrictions (80%, reg line only, etc).

If someone has the same position listed more than once on their AE bid (i.e.- with different %'s), would they be counted more than once?? |

You can use it to compare relative seniority by looking at the numbers for different bases. Sure, the numbers are pure fantasy, but it will give you an idea of which base is more senior. Tip:

Lots of our Transatlantic flying also went from Daily to four or five weekly flights. Lots of winter routes were cancelled. I just posted a list of the 8 transatlantic routes that aren't coming back...

Think I know the answer but. I have a 4 day trip next month followed by 2 days of CQ. Can I use pos. space going to work for the 4 day being that I won't be going home after the trip? Or do I just get pos. space coming home after CQ?

Just a quick idea about this co-terminal stuff, a friend suggested this (who needs to be posting on here) and I'll run with it:
For NYC-based pilots, short-call availability may be measured from the pilot’s closest co-terminal (EWR, LGA, JFK), without regard to the actual co-terminal to which he is required to report. For LAX-based pilots, short-call availability is measured from LAX. So for example an LAX pilot like Buzz declares SNA since that is closest to his favorite beach where he surfs. A NYC pilot like Tsquare declares JFK since that is where most of his flying originates from. So Buzz on SC gets a call to report to LAX and so he reports to SNA and then takes a limo to LAX. Tsquare gets a trip in EWR while sitting in JFK but he declines the transportation saying "no thanks, I'm going to borrow Carl's Escaldae and drive myself over there with his E-Zpass. So much easier than your limo and I can leave my Mcdonalds wrappers on his floor and I can just park between the only two trees within a 5 mile radius of the terminal." http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Wi3bZllYbY...s-escalade.jpg Also when it comes to MD's. If a base or category is closed then the company positive spaces the pilot to their new base for 12 months. Why? To help raise the cost of closing categories and bases and maybe think twice about closing them. ----- Since the MD bid... I mean AE bid closes in an hour, are the bids out yet? :D |
