Ummm, furloughing pilots will not make the shareholders money. Quite the opposite in fact. But since you're so sure furloughs are coming why don't you just quit now.

I agree, i was referring to the FM and below post. My point is that there are many things that point towards not furloughing. If there wasnt a cost to the company and numerous negetive effects to a furlough then i would agree it would happen without hesitation. This go around is different though. with that theres roughly 2 years for a breakeven point on furloughs and even the pessimists believe a recovery is less than 2 years out. You also have retirements coming as the age 65 rule is 2 years in effect already and the company cant predict who will go and when thus keeping them on their toes. We'll see but like i've said before, hope for the best and plan for the worst. ;)

Let me just say that if I was a betting man I'd put my $20 on whst Super said but I'm not sure if I am being objective or wishful.

I'm with Super, too. They have already said they have too many 50 seaters AND have go to court many times, just in the past 6 months, to get rid of some.

I'd be more afraid if I were flying for one of the DAL commuters. DCI??? Is that what you call them?

Thanks JDMJ,

And that is ALL of the commuters associated with DAL?

I guess when it comes to synergies we can't forget to watch closely what synergies occur with regional feed. Do we need long thin feed anymore now that some former RJ routes are better served by a new nearby superhub that didn't exist before?

Somebody was telling me how their DAL flight was cancelled and how the gate agents just had a plethora of more options now such as going via DTW, MSP and MEM, something they didn't have before. And vice versa, if you're NWA flight to Florida is cancelled they can now send you to ATL and on, etc.

Yes, DCI is the umbrella (or wholly owned,) corporation that handles all of the regional feed.

And we all know what "The Umbrella Corporation" unleashed in Racoon City!

Oh, I agree that I don't think a furlough is coming. Just correcting the record that the last time DAL furloughed the pilots lost and a lot of us spent a long time away from the property. What I did learn from the last time, however, is to always have an "alternate." Don't let it surprise you if it does come around.
