RE: New Short Call bidding system and NYC Co-Terminal INformation
Hello fellow pilots I talked to SD at alpa yesterday to answer a few of my questions regarding the new short call rules coming into effect may 1 and here is what he said.
It will be similar to the bucket system now 0,1,2 (short calls assigned)will be a bucket and 3,4,5 will be a short call bucket. Also there will be a bucket with days of avail. You will have 3 or more as one Days of avail bucket and 1 and 2 days of avail as another bucket. What sked will do the day before is post (for example) we need 1 short call guy from the days of avail bucket of 3 or greater for a PM short call and we need 2 guys from the days of avail bucket 1,2 for an AM short call. You will then be able to preference if you want a short call, or one that starts in a time frame from 7 to 9 am was the example he gave.
assigning short calls will be like trip assignment. If someone has a preference for an AM short call they will get it if they are in the same days of avail bucket and the same number of short calls used bucket the short call assignment is coming out of. If there is no one that wants it then it will go to the most junior guy.
Part 2 regarding NYC i was asking about naming a co-terminal for commuting in with the first 2 hours used to commute it. He said you do not have to set one co-terminal and stick with it the assumption was you can change it. If today the EWR flight looks the best you can designate that one as your 2 hour short call airport and next week u can designate LGA.
If you use your two hours to commute to EWR then they have to give you more time to get to lga if they want u there.
Hope all his helps

My wife (former F/A) says Pilots never get hemorrhoids.

Why?

Because we are 'perfect a-holes' !

While I understand everyone has different desires, I think it's fair to say you are in the minority. I commute to reserve as well and frankly I have no desire to ever fly on every day of availability, I'd much rather be at home. This especially irritating when you watch the other 3/4's of your category doing virtually nothing. Making the first bucket top at 60 raw probably wouldn't change your ability to fly a lot if you desired. It just wouldn't force those of us who don't desire to fly everyday of availability only to be paid the same as those who none.

ALPA just sold ALL of the QOL jr pilots had in favor of giving it to senior guys. I felt like I was at a regional again during February.

We are hiring. Send your application to Hawaiian and Alaska. Those are Delta's West coast operation carriers.

In all seriousness, IT CHANGES DAILY. I know, unless we outsource more, then we need to start the interview machine pretty soon.

Good luck, whom are you furloughed from.

So he thinks he should just not have to come in at all? Well, I can see how he'd get that idea in his head, but in a smaller category he should expect that. Now imagine what the junior guys in his category are doing if he had to do 4 SCs...something probably close to 6 SCs and 3X the flying he got). If the buckets were smaller he might have gotten a 2 or 3 day trip and avoided a couple of SCs.

Anyone have any ideas to max credit for NQAT line with TR and remainder is shadow? I have NQAT 4/1-9 then TR 4/9-20 and then shadow bid after that. Any PBS gurus know how to max credit for this month since I have never been so lucky to be MD'd? for the 3rd time on the West Coast

Maybe I should just apply at our new regional Alaska!

PM's would be welcomed

Not to single you out since this is a company issue. It seems like the new reserve system is akin to a senior line holder dropping a drip onto your line and you having to fly it while he doesent and still gets paid.
Why is someone hitting 150 while someone else isn't flying? I hit 80 early last month and never flew again.
