Hard to get an impression yet since we're not hearing much as to how many are making the cut these days.
Everyone that I know who has not made it was because of the interview. The numbers I've seen are 8/9 and 6/8 hired. There have been a few others not hired but not sure of the class size. Those not picked are of both backgrounds, military and civilian.
That is why I posted about watching your attitude. Personally regardless of your background I believe we are all competent enough to pass the GK and COG test, but the interview is 100% based on your personality. It's not black and white.

I'll think 3-5 times next time before sharing information.
That kind of attitude is not limited to fast movers as is the conventional wisdom many of us have. We've all come across them whether they're in fighters, bombers, transport, etc. A friend of mine had the same attitude interviewing for an AF reserve job. He pretty much gave the impression of, "Yeah, I'm not sure if this gig is for me, but if I decided to grace you with my presence what can you tell me about your outfit?" OK, a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point. Funny thing is he can laugh about it today, and learned something from the experience.

That's the part that Moak didn't think through when he went down this path.
We'll be lucky if the NMB doesn't declare Pinnacle pilots to be Delta pilots.

Nobody listened, but you've been right about this all along Bar.
Someday we are going to regret having two sets of pilots signing contracts with Delta.

2 people I know didn't make it through the cog testing on day 1.

1 made it through day 1, wasn't invited back for day 2.

2 made it all the way through, didn't make it. It was the day 2 psych eval according to them, or their contacts. Can't remember who told them.

It can happen to anybody, anybody can have a bad day.

Hear hear. I find that offensive as well.
Funny how a slam on a more "peaceful" religion would immediately merit a barrage of defenses, but this one somehow gets a pass.
I'm not particularly religious, but I respect others' right to their choices without mocking the most sacred tenets.
PC? Nope. Just respectful.

That's the one thing I miss about the Air Force...hard work, commitment, integrity meant you rose above your peers. You weren't just a number. OTOH, being just a number has its merits also.

The more you practice, the fewer bad days you have.

Back in middle school a band teacher told me "when you can play it ten times through without a mistake, or hesitation, you're ready." As a middle aged performing musician and pilot, that advice continues to serve well.

There is some pretty accurate guidance on the cog test out there. I made several little games of the test using flash cards and post it notes. My wife and I spent a couple of afternoons "playing" while I drank beer and enjoyed myself at a local pub which has a number of distractions. Scoring myself I was able to go from 20% to 80% on the memory tests with just an hour or two of practice. You'll figure out your own tricks pretty quick, whether they be word associations, or mathematical logic. I used a version of the PEG system, where numbers are turned into consonants, which can be used to build a word. Words are easier to memorize for longer periods of time and can come back after distractions. Sometimes the words make entire sentences, or stories. Here's the system I used:

0 -z,s
1 - t or,d
2 - n
3 - m
4 - r
5 - L
6 - j, ch, sh
7 - k, g, or c
8 - ƒ, v
9 - b, p

( My father used this system to remember 747-200 capacities and limitations in about 30 minutes, he was really good at it! )

Further it is easier to recall two digit numbers than single digit numbers:

IE 482516 is much easier recalled as 48 25 16

You will find what works for you the more you play with it.

Further, the more you practice your interview, the better you'll be. Spend your time on the really tough questions like, "what is the part of being a pilot you struggle with?" "What do you really need to work on ?" etc ... . Fluff answers like "being too organized" are fluff. I'm not saying it is fatal to provide fluff, but if you can answer truthfully in a way that acknowledges a real issue we face, your answer can win some major points.

My interview experience was very relaxed, fun even. For me (and I'm far from the smartest guy) it boils down to practice.

I agree Jug. I am particularly religious. I get the joke. Say the same thing about any other belief system and the PC police would've rolled in guns hot.

I COMPLETELY agree with you.

Two of those mentioned were very good friends of mine and did the prep. And I was scratching my head that they weren't offered the job.

And as far as your last point, ALL but one said what you did. Great experience, friendly, just wish they had done better. Only 1 had a bad experience. And of course, we can ALL speculate that maybe it was him. Don't know, don't care. He ended up somewhere else anyway that ALSO has a pretty decent filter and screening process. I was simply answering the guys question of if he knew anybody with a TBNT and in which part it happened.
