We are the very beginning of the hiring wave, and I truly hope that you are able to get here and enjoy a nice career. Just try to let stuff go that's out of your control and concentrate on the positive. Good luck.
Spudhauler, thanks for your reply. The way I feel frustrated is not at anyone in particular, but it's for not figuring out what makes my app hit the points to get an invite. There is no doubt if we knew what drove the computer, we would all do what it takes to hit the mark. The thing for me, and many others on here, see others that get an invite and compare apps and try to figure what gives? I completely agree that no one wants to hire a person that has a chip on their shoulder. If I came across that way the my apologies. If I get the invite, it will be an ecstatic moment in my life. There is no doubt if I get it two years from now I won't be as ecstatic as I would be now or even this coming year. After trying for something for nearly eight years and still not getting a bite is disheartening.

Last point, anyone that passes the interview I think deserves the job. I've known very good individuals in all spectrums that have gotten the job and also not gotten it. All I'm wanting to achieve that I have no control of is getting the invite to interview. After that then what happens is up to me as far as employment is concerned.

If I made it seem that he doesn't have what it takes to do the job then I miscomunicated and my apologies. As far as qualifications are concerned, we are all qualified if we meet the ATP mins. Now being most qualified is a different spectrum.

In extreme cases they have hired non TPIC but you better have something else on your app to make you standout in the crowd. Networking WILL NOT get you the interview but your app will. If you want to work for United then you better network but Delta will tell you, it's not who you know but what is on your app. I bet of the 115 guys hired a month only 5 of them are civilians that don't have TPIC. The guys I know that have been hired were hired because of their app and not because of who they knew.

Even AK stated at WIA that even if Richard A. Puts a letter in for someone that individual will not get an invite unless they score high enough.

No apologies necessary. I get it; I've been you! Even if you get hired in two years you'll still be in great shape. We have barely popped the cork on retirements. In a few years we will be seeing 6-800 per year turning 65. Hope you are called and in class soon!

You're definitely right. I know 2020-2022 it's a huge number and there are a lot even before then. In a seniority driven system every month much less year makes a difference. Plus mandatory retirement will hit before we know it. When I got hired at current place six months made the difference on upgrade by 4 years. Not that I'm worried about upgrade at delta. Year two puts me better than I'm making now. Just all the life goals, hopes, and QOL items add up.

Thanks again for your reply and information. Hope to join the ranks soon!

A lot of people keep coming on here and saying this, however then we have guys come and post their stats and it's not adding up.

I get what guys are saying. It sounds like a military board. If you have this then you get this many points (i.e. Masters degree 5 points, Bachelors, 3 points) In theory it is all done by computer and it takes the human influence/bias out.

So what is frustrating people like the lear pilot, is when someone comes on this board has very low hours, mediocre college gpa and admits to having reckless driving tickets or a suspended license in his/her history. Some how I don't think an unbiased computer program is going to spit that packet out for interview.

Who you know does work, it just depends on the who. Networking helps otherwise we all wouldn't go to job fairs and bother guys for recs. The process is bs just have to do the dance.

If they are military then they are exempt from having to get TPIC time. The guys that your talking about almost always seem to be military but a civi with no TPIC is pretty rare. It happens but very rarely. Usually their dad use to work there or something else seems to stand out on their app but Delta knows what they are doing and to say that it's all about networking is a slap in the face.

This is BS. As delta will tell you at the job fairs, "They don't give bonus points or care if they meet you". If you have one LOR or go to the job fair it will get your app pulled and reviewed but will not give you any bonus points in getting the interview. Delta would prefer not to go to these job fairs but you can't not support WAI or OBAP. We all go to the job fairs because of the dream job at hand and the belief that by some miracle just because we shake hands with a recruiter, we will get an interview.

We had pilots at Endeavor jump the SSP line because they were well connected. They still had to pass the interview obviously.
