Once per year max was what I heard, and even then only if there was any significant update worthy stuff going on.

The manual only means it'll get scored a little earlier. Once its been scored, not a lot is going to change it unless you got a Masters degree or upgraded in between, etc.

Don't think it's a power trip, they just want to make sure they do all their research before handing the keys to a multi million dollar jet over to you. Plenty of guys have jumped through the hurdle, and believe me, the gig is well worth it. Hope to see you get hired if this is where you wish to end up!

Hey new guy here. I got an e-mail to interview with Delta on 28 Dec. I have not called them yet as my schedule and availability is a big unknown (activity Air Force attempting to separate). Anyone else had a similar e-mail? If so, I'm curious what date they are setting up interviews for.

Thanks

Just prior to Christmas they were offering late February.

call and explain the situation ASAP. Apologize profusely. Stating a close-in availability date when you haven't even been approved to separate is a huge foul.

If you get a CJO and it comes out somewhere (when offering you a class, background check, etc) that you haven't even been approved to leave AD, there's a strong perception that you've tried to game the system...which is exactly what you have done.

At that point, you're done at Delta. It's one thing if the situation is out of your control. This situation is completely within your control.

This.^^^

Honesty is the best policy for yourself and your military bros/sisters behind you. Given the choice between falling on your sword and sticking it their backs, there's only one choice. Make the right one.

Thanks for the info. To clarify there was no gaming of the system. The interview invitation was an unexpected but welcome surprise as my application was placed ~5 months ago. My separation date of 1 Feb 2015 was my best estimate at the time of my application. I had just been approved for separation from the Air Force (which is the same day I applied to Delta) but my release was contingent on some variables outside my control. Long story short, my separation expiration expired so I had to reapply.

With the number of military pilots Delta has worked with, I'm sure this isn't the first time something like this has happened.

Well you can try to select an interview date down the road and then give a realistic availability date, Sounds like an administrative screw-up, not the best way to introduce yourself to DAL, but it seems pretty minor and you should be able to work it out.

When you get to the interview, they will go line by line on your app. One of those questions they ask will be "is this availability date still accurate?" If you can't answer the mail on that one, expect to get the personalized visit with Capt Kraby at the end of the day in the smaller group you don't want to be in. I'd call the Pilot Selection Team, tell them you didn't keep your availability up to date, tell them what it really is, and ask them what to do. Do that, and while they might decide to defer you for a while, you might not get the Delta door shut on you forever. Who knows....I had a friend get hired by Delta almost 9 months ahead of his availability date, so you could possibly even still get to interview.

I don't think you have said how much commitment you have left. If you're Palace Chasing a month or two, that's a different ballgame than a year or two. How much time are we talking about here?

Please remember you are responsible for every bit of information you enter on your application. For example, if you stated on the ap you completed five months ago that you had no speeding tickets--and since then received a speeding ticket but didn't put it on your ap--you'd be in the wrong. This is no different. You've got inaccurate information on there, and were offered an interview based on inaccurate information.

The resulting perception could be problematic.
