I would say most pilots are/will be unhappy with their career. Only a small percentage have it play out as planned or desired.

I fought to save jobs as Chief pilot when my company was trigger happy on firing pilots. Yup, I am anti management because I tried to make sure my fellow pilots never faced unfairness.

That still doesn't paint the whole picture because Delta hires plenty of union volunteers both past and present. I don't see that as being the only reason. My guess is that statement from the HR rep was probably meant to be one of your more confrontational-type questions they like to ask. It sounds like you either had a crapoy answer or came across as defensive.

I did numerous volunteer positions with the union at my previous carrier, reading your statement:

1. I'd bet my entire next months paycheck those were not the exact words of the HR representative at the interview.

2. If the union work did come up, and HR pressed you on it, then that was the squirm card the interviewers decided to use against you to see how you would respond.
