Yes and yes! I have heard of both but no TPIC is very uncommon.

Very uncommon seems like a stretch. I don't know the percentages but the only people I know that have been hired with no TPIC, it's been to Delta.

I’d guess that about 2-3% get hired without TPIC, one out of every class.

FWIW, I have flown with several such pilots. Every one of them was great!

Its like a monkey can do it. Anyone can swing a gear, but is there mental acuity, decision-making, and leadership attributes....probably far less

Less PIC means that Delta can mold them into the kind of a Captains they want. Pilots with too much experience and PIC time are likely considered untrainable.

Got it, people stuck at regionals during stagnation who couldn't upgrade lack all three of those as a matter of course.

A friend of mine, who was stuck in the right seat at the regionals, got hired at Delta with zero 121 pic. He’s been at Delta for about 2 years and has already upgraded on the maddog, got displaced, and is now a SLI on it.
