Do the AE results give any clues about the pace of hiring for the rest of the year?

Not at this point. 90% of the hiring equation will be networks block hour plan for next summer. Keep an eye on oil prices. That will be the driver.

Absolutely they do. When it was first announced in April that the pilot hiring will slow down for the summer the most influential factor in determining the future plans was the next AE, ie 03jul.

The data is being worked on so stand by for more info

I know that the 320 training for SEP is scheduled back at full capacity again, some of which is for NH's.

If the numbers on the November 22D2 are correct, we're going to need a whole lot more NYC320Bs to cover the exodus that just happened in this AE.

Over 100 ATL 88 crews were removed on this latest bid. About 120 A's and 110 B's.

The 03Jul AE is along the lines of Spring LCA meetings intel.
Even faster retirements is what I gathered.

Yes it does. Network has presented the plan to Flight Ops and they need to more pilots than on property now to fly the summer schedule next year. The training pipeline will be a big driver along with some other associated cost issues will be the deciding factor if hiring occurs before 1st quarter 2019. The finanaceand Flight Ops are of different minds currently on the hiring timeline.

Should know more in the next few weeks.

How can they be so desperate that they're actually sending non-pilot employees to flight school? Seriously?

Delta is not desperate They have thousands of applications on file, and can have thousands more if they wanted them.

What Delta is doing is priming the pipeline for their regional feed. The biggest risk of getting into aviation is that a pilot could be stuck at a regional for a long time. An ab initio program like Delta’s allows a more certain timeframe, thus convincing more people to take the plunge and go to flight school. Delta isn’t paying for their flight training. They’re just offering a structured program.

I like that Delta still requires an interview once these cadets put in their time. I really think the quality of pilots at American (via the flow) will be noticeably worse than the pilots at Delta and United (who may have preferred or guaranteed interviews, but still have to pass them).
