What Delta is doing is priming the pipeline for their regional feed. The biggest risk of getting into aviation is that a pilot could be stuck at a regional for a long time. An ab initio program like Delta’s allows a more certain timeframe, thus convincing more people to take the plunge and go to flight school. Delta isn’t paying for their flight training. They’re just offering a structured program.

I like that Delta still requires an interview once these cadets put in their time. I really think the quality of pilots at American (via the flow) will be noticeably worse than the pilots at Delta and United (who may have preferred or guaranteed interviews, but still have to pass them).
American is already seeing flow issues. They expect it to get worse when they start flowing pilots who were hired at the regionals when the criteria for employment became can you fog the mirror.

Fog a mirror? Really? 12 years to flow from Envoy and they still can't hack it? I highly doubt that. I can't speak for PSA/Piedmont but I have interacted with many Envoy pilots over the past decade and I see no such issues.

Many of the pilots hired after 2016 at the regionals would not even have been granted a interview prior to that. Extra sim and IOE time is up dramatically from years past. The criteria to get hired now is basically a pulse and the FAA minimums.

I personally know one the managers of training at AA. Those issues you refer to, were in the past with guys coming off a turboprop only.

Unhappy Internal Rec to Invite Timeline

I'm not sure if this has been asked before and if it has been asked my apologies. With the recent slow down in hiring is there a slowdown in the time between internal rec and app scoring as well as invites/fix it's? If so whats the timeline? I had an internal submitted about 7 weeks ago should I just consider myself in the 12 month try again pool ?

For what its worth, i waited exactly 90 days from internal rec submission to interview invite.

Howdy Y’all,

I’m an A320 FO from Saudi Arabia. I work for FlyNas and I have around 3000 hours on the bus. I grew up in the United States and I always wanted to move back to the States. I’m wondering what is my chances of getting hired with DL ?

FYI: I did my flight training in the USA + college degree from Embry-Riddle. I never flight instructed neither worked for a regional carrier.
