Are you young and is your weight in proportion to your height?
If so, that would explain the rejection.

Is your hotel paid for in MIA? Makes a difference for me...I got a place to crash in ATL.

Fwiw and I don't know the difference for new hires but looking at my paycheck they take out:
-$54 for life insurance (my choice),
-$266 medical for family of 4,
-$40 for dental,
-$80 for FSA,
-$12 for insurance (dumb choice)

Total of $452.

In these categories the chance of you getting a GS are as follows:
ATL717B: 1 GS for every 2 pilots in Feb
ATLM88B: 1 GS for every .9 pilots (610 GS for 549 pilots)
ATL73NB: 1 GS for every 2.4 pilots
NYCM88B: 1 GS for every 3.7 pilots
NYC73NB: 1 GS for every 0.6 pilots (166 GS for 105 pilots)
NYC7ERB: 1 GS for every 4.8 pilots (93 GS for 445 pilots)

Remember GS's are tricky, they offer GSs a lot on weekends for instance, who is off on weekends? Senior guys. So you could be awarded 0 GS and see someone on GS #4 but that's because you work every weekend and they don't. YMMV.

With the ALVs for the month of April with new hire gross pay:
ATL717B: $4901
ATLM88B: $5388
ATL73NB: $5746
NYCM88B: $5622
NYC73NB: $5828
NYC7ERB: $5773

That obviously would not stay consistent, ALVs fluctuate to an average.

Random numbers but hope that helps.

If you get MIA then yes. However I can't imagine anyone basing their decision on that. Pads in ATL are a couple hundred a month if you are on a really tight budget. A couple hundred buck difference one time in your career is so far below the margin of error, even on an otherwise tight budget, it shouldn't even factor. Plus I'm not sure you will be able to know for sure where the training will be at the time you commit to it anyway. I'd suspect the closest you could get might be a "probably at this time" qualifier, but you would still very likely get either at the last minute regardless.

How about union dues? Do you pay right way or after probation? What is the % deduction?

Does your PWA limit the amount of Greenslips per pilot per year? Is there any methodology in assignment of Greenslips?

You won't pay until you are off probation. That happens at the one year point, or upon completion of 400 block hours including OE. The day you hit that 400th hour (if inside your first year, which is very easy to do if you don't switch equipment especially on a narrowbody) you will start paying dues by 7am the next day. They are on it, big time.

No limit, but they are awarded in seniority order, and once you get one you go to the bottom. Absolutely don't budget with them in mind, especially if you are junior and double especially if you commute. If you are willing and able and get some, consider that party money.

Several of us in Indoc changed bases and went where we wanted before Indoc was even over with. Lots of movement.

Make sure you put your preferences in Icrew right away during class.
