She got about 30 minutes in a 320 sim and still thinks JetBlue is way better than Delta. She liked the Delta dinner, but didn't even compare to what JetBlue did for spouses. She couldn't believe that Delta put us up in the Comfort Inn on VA which was a total dump.
When I was hired in 01, they had spouses, GFs or parents come for 2 1/2 days. Put everyone up in the Renaissance hotel. Went over everything about the company. History, benefits, non rev travel, bidding, who to call and what to do in family emergency. Dinner was first or second night, I don't remember which. Tour was on third day.

I guess we really have went downhill in some areas.

I would buy a $250 laptop if I were to do it again. At least until the tablets are issued.
I found a $250 laptop I was thinking about buying for training. Any news as to when the tablets will be issued and if they will run the indoc and systems training? I know that's a cheap laptop but I don't want to buy it if I'm going to show up to Atlanta on 16 June and they hand out tablets. I'll have a $250 paperweight like a dummy...

I'd say it's a foregone conclusion that tablets capable of running Indoc and Systems training will not be available to the pilots in the next 24 days.

They won't be handing out tablets at your class, you will get paper books and a couple of (microsoft-based) flash drives. Latest "estimate" on full deployment is later this year. You will have access to the Delta web almost immediately and ALL pubs can be found/downloaded there as well. They will also give you lots of help/advice/some software to help you run the stuff on an Mac (which seems like a hassle to me).

During 767 initial my wife came down for a conjugal visit. American Idol was in town ... the hotel was filled with people who thought they could sing ... practicing. Many either dressed normally as 1980's hair bands, or they were in costume. Could not figure that part out. It was a zoo.

Does anyone know if they will let you swap interview dates with someone? Two people got an interview before they got their schedules and if they swapped with each other it would work out. If they call delta would this be allowed or would they both have to tell delta they couldn't do that day and then that day would be up for grabs for everyone?
Thanks

Try and see. I found the people running the hiring front desk to be very helpful and easy to work with when I had a schedule conflict.

I agree with Elvis. The folks that do the scheduling are very accommodating. I think that if you bring a solution that works for both parties, they might appreciate it. Either way, I was unable to take the first date offered, they had several scheduled and offered one that worked.
Good luck. Do well. We all want you to succeed. (moves us up when you do well.)

Don't even think about the kids. When we did it (2000) I brought my fiance (they didn't even blink about it) and she enjoyed it and a friend took care of the kids for a couple of days. We both thought it was worth it.

Get the cheap laptop. You should be able to resell it on Ebay or Craigs List when you get home. While there are computers in the training center and also in the hotel it is a great convenience to be able to do it in your room. Make sure it is a Windows machine (not one of the "new", cheap Chromebooks.
