Out of base flying is a show stopper for me. I've missed green slips several months this year when the out-of-basers bailed scheduling out when they ran out of reserves. When we're fat on reserve, I get that these guys are doing the short call pilots a favor by covering a trip, but they don't pay any attention to when we're out of SC pilots. That costs those of us in base green slips, plus kills any motivation for the company to add positions.
There's already too much shenanigans going on with the pilot to pilot board. It's the new trip parking. Don't open it system wide.

My opinion only. Far 117 changed the way pilots should be thinking. For example, picking up to the fars at straight rates bones another pilot out of a greenslip. There is only one reason to pick up at straight pay and that is to get to the greenslip trigger. Every cockpit on every flight should have this discussion.

Agreed. That's the main reason that I support OOB swaps. It helps guys drop trips that they could not otherwise get out of.

That idea sounds as though it would keep guys from going up to FARs prior to GS, while giving us 1.5 pay for the time between the trigger and the pickup limit. Would that ultimately help staffing by reducing the amount of time we can pick up before reserves, or would it hurt staffing by encouraging more guys to pick up above the trigger?
