Then why would the company be hiring and training as fast as they can manage if there isn't enough flying to get the new pilots flying? I get they need to have a reserve to ensure staffing but a 9 month reserve seems a bit excessive and costly. I guess I am setting up for misery because I will be requesting the 900 even if that means extra months of reserve. I just feel its better equipment and I hear the AC is much better as well, but I could be wrong.

Things were started to look better, because in September, I was able to hold a CNO line. Now those are gone, and I am back to being on reserve. I can't handle a year of this, so I hope something changes. There was supposed to a growth announcement in September, but it looks like that isn't going to happen.

I have no idea. I am an 900 NYC new hire from the first quarter of the year. I have to fly with a check airman next week, because I need an extension on my consolidation. My first month after OE, I flew 5 hours. The entire month.

Well, one could always get typed and if things don't get better, you can go elsewhere

After doing this for 2 years (and flying all 3 variants at a previous carrier), I’m so glad that I’m back on the 200. At the end of the day, QOL supersedes everything, and having FADEC and a better A/C does not come remotely close to being worth the additional 6+ months of crashpad and ready reserve for min guarantee.
YMMV though.

Very short-sighted in my opinion. Sure, the 900 is overall a nicer aircraft, but you’re gonna be off reserve and making money much quicker on the 200. You can even get out of NYC, if you want (who wouldn’t?)

The only sure thing at this company is nyc will forever be junior. Even ATL has been trending more Senior on FO side than MSP...no one would have suspected that last year.

Having flown all three variants what are the pro's and con's of each?

A friend of mine was hired in Q1, went through training in 11 weeks with two weeks off between events, went straight to OE after 5 days off, and consolidated with time to spare. This is on the 900. It can definitely be done. They were NYC based.
