Ok, one more and then I'm done with story time... Commuting to work on an A321, with my dad (a Delta captain) commuting on the same flight. Full flight, but the Airbus has 2 flight deck jumpseats, so I request one and he requests the other. I go down first, introduce myself, and ask if I could possibly catch a ride to work. The captain barely acknowledges me, and is morose and not at all friendly. Next dad comes down and checks in. The captain turns around and looks at us, and asks "you two related?" Whereupon dad confirms we are. From that moment on, the skipper's manner changes like a light switch and is friendly and chatty the rest of the flight.
Yeah, "no good ole boys club at Delta" pull the other one...

Just to give the latest of many, many stories, last week we had a Delta crew deadhead in with us going to the same hotel. I had to finish a write up in the logbook, so my F/O went ahead to let people know I'd be a few more minutes. I get out to find my F/O and no van, and he tells me that I missed them by 30 seconds, but that the mainline crew wouldn't wait at all. Typical Delta...
I have one personal story of an awesome mainline crew who went out of their way to help me out ( probably westies ), but I have a long list of stories about mainline crews being absolute douche bags. It's gotta be some medication they give them in new-hire training, because I know some really great people who have been hired at mainline.

Hotel vans have always been a sour topic. Seems like the majority of crews aren’t willing to wait. Especially after a hectic day most are over it ….any additional waiting can blows head gaskets. Again I see your side but I wouldn’t have expected them to wait. Seniors don’t wait for freshman. We take the next bus unfortunately.

Not one bit surprised.

very nice of you..I’m just saying I wouldn’t expect a mainline crew to wait for us. Doesn’t Delta have something in their contract about not sharing the van with others?

I kinda expect to be left behind when we’re riding with mainline or Skywest mainline. Stings more when it’s our own leaving us behind. Same as shutting down the aircraft on a 30 minute turn. Gotta expand ones situational awareness just a little bit.

To be fair. I’ve had literally my own FAs from my own crew do this to me. “Oh I didn’t know you guys were overnighting”. Yeah, sure you didn’t.
She was off the plane and took off before we could even get the plane secured.
Some people are just think for their selfers only.
It’s not a delta thing, but a personal thing. And at the end of the day, like other have said, we are the bag carriers to mainline. It really isn’t personal, those folks are usually gone before I get off the plane on my commutes sitting in comfort.
