I got paid today. But it's still a day early. Not sure why you expected it prior to today?

Not odd at all. If one wishes to pass thru carrying large shampoo bottles, or bottles of water of just about any size, then being in uniform makes a lot of sense.
Especially in an airport without a KCM line.
