I have yet to be used in October and I only flew twice in September for 4 hours block. I know others with similar experiences and I know some that have been used a fair amount (30 - 50 hours). JFK seems o use their CR9 FOs more than LGA, but there are less of them. Of course that could change tomorrow. If you come here, expect NYC on the CR9 and to sit reserve for 2 - 5 months (depending on when you finish OE and how junior you’re in your class). If something else happens, just go with it. Go to the regional that best puts you were you want to be eventually. Only you can say what that is.

You guys are clowning right? It’s not like the gate agents or the ramp doesn’t know you’re on the ground. The fewer radio calls you have to make the better. I get paid by the hour so if they want me to turn around and find another gate what do I care. Follow the 10-7 page for each airport no stress no problem

3 Ready Reserve periods. Of those, I sat only once. One I did a one leg turn with a DH back. The other I did two empty repos.
One two leg trip.
Two days not used.
Out of 6 days I only did my scheduled contact hours twice. The other 4 I got swapped from P2 to basically P1.
A buddy of mine did 6 days of nothing. Another got a 3 day trip. Go figure.

I have been told by Ops to go to a particular gate, the same one given on the in-range, and when I got there, it was occupied. A second call to Ops, and they basically said, “Oops. My bad. Go around to the other side and park now.”
Since it is a company requirement to call ops, I do. Hopefully you do too. Even at outstations where I KNOW they will not answer, I call at least once.

If you were to be hired today, with 4000 total time, 1500 part 121 SIC time…
Would you be able to upgrade as soon as possible?
How long would you sit reserve?
Any chance of avoiding the -200 and being -900 only?
I wouldn't care what base I was in, just would rather be on the -900, because I currently fly that at my regional.

Couple weeks ago in RDU, call ops they say gate C10, ramp tells us gate change, D something, the one around the corner at the end inside along the road. Get there, ramp calls us back and says whops sorry we are wrong. Landed 15 early and got to the gate 10 late after we had to be towed in, pushed back so we could taxi around the ramp. Sometimes you just can’t win with ops or ramp.
