I’ll probably just watch these first couple months and see what kind of report times guys are getting.
Same here.

There's always a chance but don't believe it until it is up for bid. We have a few Phoenix commuters and they don't seem to hate it too much for what I've been told. We have a sim down there now and I know at least one FO that makes a killing picking up seat support in open time.

As it's currently written, I believe it's a 12 hour call out regardless of report time.

I.E. 8pm call on Tuesday night for 8am report Wednesday morning. In many cases, 8pm is either past the last flight of the night into the hub or darn close considering you need to grab your bag and be out the door and at the airport before that last flight and could likely be before the first flight in the AM will get you into the hub.
It's more than that. Have to read a little deeper. I understand this is only the first day, but they are promising more flying compared to short call. It's just a gamble I guess. LCR report is 1300 on first day and get released at 1200 on last day. I don't expect anyone to be given the exact 12 hours to report to base. Just like how short call is now, I've never had the minimum 2 hour report.

So as long as you get your hours, screw commuters - check...

I’m not convinced LCR will be good for commuters unless they’re coming on a short, frequent commute like BOS or DCA. I live in base and bid short call for March since I want to see how they end up using the long calls. But after that I plan on doing long call since there’s a lot more flexibility in what I can do on long call vs short call since I’m an hour drive from the airport already.

That’s now how any of this works. Bid what your seniority can hold, plain and simple. Are senior lineholders with upgrade times met screwing junior reserve pilots by not upgrading or bidding reserve themselves?

Plus, Kelvin is right. I don’t think a lot of commuters are considering how they’d get to work on a 12 hour call out given at the exact wrong time of night for them. This thing is built for the short distance commuter or long distance driver.

I understood LCR was designed to make life as a commuter more predictable while providing more reliability of reserve staff for the company. If it all goes to in base employees, commuters who voted for a contract based on LCR were misled.

It's not all going to in base employees. It's going to the most senior 15% who bid for it, no matter how they get to work.

Really best to petitition the union to negotiate for greater LCR coverage as a percent of total reserve coverage. Principles of seniority are not going anywhere...
