The vacancy is posted. You fill out your preferences in order CA or FO and what base. Save the email in case something gets messed up (which you can withdraw from any voluntary move between the initial award and the final award). When the Final award is posted it will give your class/move date. Lately there has been a new vacancy every 3 months on average. So if you are starting in June you will probably be able to bid again in July or August with a move date of September or October. Hope that helps!

I was told by the CP that my instruction hours count towards 117. I don't instruct enough for it to matter anyways but I might bring it up in the next probationary meeting.
Got a link to that one? Here's the interpretation that says they don't count: http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/...rpretation.pdf

Company policy is still that one needs approval, but it doesn't seem to be one that's grounded in the FARs. Perhaps a holdover from the pre-117 days where it did count against cumulative time.

Yup, that's the one I've seen.

Yes it does, thanks. Would JFK or LGA be commutable from DTW? Or are there too many mainline guys jumping those flights? What about PIT, would that be better? Are there JFK/LGA based pilots who live in Connecticut?

Yep, we had a guy in my class who lived in Hartford and I think chose LGA.

From DTW, there are more flights to LGA per day. You can also ride our own metal on some of the JFK flights.

Just looked, 9x DTW-LGA on Monday, 3x DTW-JFK. One JFK flight is us, another Gojet, and last is a Delta flight.

Any ideas what the company will do if we reach the 2015 group that most likely won't have the 1000k 121 sic time?

I have another document that supports that this does NOT count towards the totals of part 117 aka FAA.

However, company policy may state otherwise. Has anyone asked and been shot down to instruct on the side? I'm just trying to find out if i can make a little extra $$ on my days off.

There is a decent chunk of guys who came over in 2015 that either have 1000 121 from previous carriers or the combination of what they've flown previously and what they will have flown by the time their number comes up.

Guys, it's 1000 company time. Previous 121 time doesn't count.
