Envoy guy here; limited to the statement you quoted, I don't see anything erroneous or "tricky" - I personally love that we have a DFW and ORD base, both for commuting and for being in major cities with job prospects for spouse, should I choose to move in base. Beats the heck out of some other places with bases in prohibitively-costly cities, middle-of-nowhere bases, or entirely non-commutable cities (in my prior career, I've lived in all of the above). I know our bases have historically changed with the wind, but if having bases in two major cities helps us recruit (neither of which seem to be going anywhere in the foreseeable future), I'm just fine with that recruiting tool being used to the extent of its value. Just my thought, in reply to your equally-valid thought.

Seems like that's what ENY and PDT NH wants...

I'll believe it when I see it. Otherwise, that's all conjecture and invalid facts for prospective pilots. Again, there is a big difference between telling what people want to hear and what really is going to happen. I can say I plan on winning the mega millions. That doesn't mean it will happen. A typical recruiting ploy.

Default Envoy bases

Is it possible to get ORD out of training? If so, how long can one expect to sit reserve?

Should be easy to get. All 3 fleet types will be up there here soon. All the NHs are going 175 DFW right now so if you are willing to take 145 or crj can get there easily. Not sure about rsv times up there.

Yes. Ord is the JR base...

145-maybe 6 to 12 months
CRJ - around 8 months
E-175 - nobody knows, but maybe 1-4 months.

thanks! advantages of one aircraft over the others? It seems as though the one with the shortest reserve time would be the best or better trips???

For the time being, if you choose an ORD 700 (and I believe 145 as well, but I don't know for sure) you get an extra 5k on your sign-on bonus (total 20k). And, for what it's worth to your situation, the 175 has a pretty big training backlog right now, so you will likely have a gap after indoc. Some like that, some don't. Obviously there are many other factors to consider, but those are two that will affect you right off the bat.

We are scoped out of more than 40 175s right now I believe.

Thank you. Recruiters have contacted me a couple of times. Going to submit my app soon, but this forum has me a little concerned after what I've read. then again all the other threads have the same kind of statements regarding other regionals.

No problem. Just make the best decision you can with the information you have at hand, that's all we can do. Only time will tell if we get it right...
