Can anyone comment on the overall quality of the training at Envoy? How does it compare to other airlines?

Rather good. Emj has some that think you should build the plane, crj, know what the switches do. Can't answer for the 175. But training is solid.

Thanks Smutter. Although it's purely speculation at this point, what's the long-term outlook for Envoy? The 40 175s appear to be promising, but it would seem AAG owns those, so they can do with them what they'd like. I've been out of the game for awhile, so I was surprised to see 10 carriers flying under the Eagle banner instead of the airline as a sole entity.

AAG does own the 145s but contractually they go to Envoy plus the other 90 175 they have the option for.

The 145 has gotten much better and is getting more in line with the CRJ. When the CRJs were leaving and the 175s were coming online there were CRJ instructors that moved to the 175 so I would expect the 175 is comparable to the CRJ.

What's the likelihood of Envoy getting those 90 175s?

whats the story on getting time off for a new hire fresh out of training. I'm probably going to submit my conditional offer paperwork tmw, and i've got a wedding over the summer within 2 months of being out of training. I'm in the wedding party so I can't really flex on not being there.

From eaglelounge:

with regards to flow, we currently sit 40 pilots above 50% for the 824. With the planned hiring of 750+ pilots for 2017 and summer/December months being historically slower on hiring... we are likely to see AA hire the bulk of the pilots for 2017 in the first 2 to quarters of 2017. That means that with only 40 as a surplus, they might not be able to fully meter and why we keep hearing the 40 flows per month. As I've stated before, this isn't out of kindness of heart, because of number of new hires we are getting or attrition; it has all to do with the 824 agreement and the 50% at the end of said agreement without metering language or other clause allowing for this to decrease.

You can bid for it off, try to trade reserve days, and if all else fails, visit with the Chief Pilot about the situation and they can approve a PO (personal off day) or PVD (paid vacation day).

I've had more than a few weddings, funerals, and family emergencies come up over the years and they've always been good handling it. I try to go in and talk to them face to face and obviously don't abuse it.

Say what you want about how management treats the contract here, but the CP's have always been really good at helping when life happens.

You'd be fine getting either. By the time the CRJ displacement happened, you'd be senior enough to hold ORD 145. The downside there is having to do another long term training in DFW (which is pretty nice pay as an FO because of the 24/7 per diem given to pilots not based in DFW).
