Completely untrue... I've always called in sick when unfit to fly and have yet to hear a peep from anyone.
Fatigue calls definitely leave a lot to be desired, more so from a contractual standpoint than a safety standpoint. I won't go into details on a public forum, but I'll agree with you there. I will say though that I have never felt pressured to fly fatigued.
The type of response you receive when calling in sick or fatigued depends a lot on your personal attitude/demeanor when talking with scheduling or the Chief Pilot's office. Just something to think about
And for the record, I am certainly no company cheerleader. The schedules and QOL are unquestionably as bad as ever I've seen them here.

Envoy vs TSA
Looking for opinions.
Both should be a one leg commute out of training. Mostly looking for quality of life. I can't see doing this for more than two to four years. If I can't make it to a major by then, I will need to go back to doing something I can make more money at.

envoy is truly the most horrible place to work. You have guaranteed sick time and try to do the right thing as you are not fit to fly. You are on the list and get Step One.
The company will bring you in to recurrent ground school and tell you about the fatigue rules and how it is responsibility of pilot to recognized fatigued and call. Then you get missed assignment.

And there are some with 4 that don't even get talked to at all. It's the big picture, not just 4 sick calls.

We don't do it to get rich, I agree. But the money is well above the median salary in the US. And it doesn't even require a degree. Advanced training? Of course. I hope wages keep going up- supply and demand means they likely will. But we aren't exactly poor nowadays. So I'd argue there are MANY folks who do it "for the money," as it provides a middle class standard of living. I didn't come to the airlines till wages trended higher -- and if they went back down, off I'd go. So I do it for the money AND the awesome flying.
