They were definitely coddled and catered. Now I will get flamed but it’s the cold hard truth.

Curious as to why you feel each pilot at XJT, regardless of where they came from, is entitled to anything different? Anyone at XJT with 10 years of service and at least 52 can retire with flight benefits at United. Am I wrong?

I’ll go ahead and be halfway reasonable, and concede that a compromise of 5 years UAX service would be acceptable.......but that’s still GENEROUS. Why should UAL give ANY consideration to the years of service provided to their competitor? The only reason it was given is because management bargained for it to keep the CRJ guys from bailing. Sorta like the TYS base, which has no other tangible benefit.
Whatever....not my fight. And those benefits are difficult to take advantage of anyways. I shouldn’t have commented, and by the time I went to erase it...it was too late. Good luck to all who still work there......regardless of where you started.

Ok. I’ll bite. If everyone should be equally “entitled”, then why did it take 12 months of service after the transition? Shouldn’t it have been immediately after the SLI?

I was asking because your comment originally made it seem as if this benefit is exclusive to people that had flown CRJs previously. The way I understand your reply now, is that you feel it’s not fair that these pilots are able to enjoy UAL benefits having only 1 year of service?
I’m just trying to clarify for other readers. This benefit is extended to anyone who works for XJT. Not just those pesky free-loading 250 CRJ guys.
If everything had gone the other way - where UAL canned the ERJs and kicked everyone to the curb and changed the agreement they had for 30+ years. Would you feel it was wrong that Delta offered benefits on their airline for ex-ERJ guys who were left hanging and wanted to salvage what they had worked so hard for all those years?

Although this is completely different from what the original poster said, it shows the bad blood is still there. Time to let it go?

Ah yes. That makes sense. Because the ASA MEC had a say in whether over a thousand ERJ pilots keep their jobs. Meanwhile the XJT MEC can’t even protect their “current” jobs.

And no bad blood here. If United agreed to give guys flight benefits then good for you.

As a former XJT pilot I think I feel with the authority to say the following:
You guys should stop seeing yourselves as United children entitled to more benefits for having served the network for X amount of years versus the ASA guys. The more you see yourselves as ExpressJet pilots only entitled to the same benefits and perks than any other XJT pilot, less likely to be disappointed in the future.
Understand that even if you are partially owned or wholly owned by any mainline partner, unless you are currently enrolled in their payroll, nobody cares about you or how many years you’ve served X, Y or Z mainline network... believe me they don’t care.
If you see yourselves as a one “united” pilot group serving one regional airline only, regardless of origins, mergers, acquisitions or the colors of the tail, you stand a better chance at getting what you need.
