Regardless, Skwest Inc. is growing it's non-union airline at the expense of it's unionized airline(s). I'm sure all of the Skywest pilots sleep well at night knowing their coziness with management works well for them. Maybe when Inc decides to shut down Expressjet they'll offer preferential interviews. Nah, they'll just have a victory party.

MAG started Freedom as a non union entity to make an end run around the Mesa contract. Proceeded to whipsaw Freedom against Mesa. Mesa took concessions to get scope and merge Freedom back in. Left them with one of the worst contracts in the industry at the time.
SkyWest Airlines was a non union, stand alone airline for about as long as ASA and XJT have existed. SkyWest Inc. bought ASA from DAL, but fought hard to prevent a merger to protect the non union workforce. ASA made significant scope gains to prevent whipsaw, reduction, and fragmentation.
Then SKW Inc, gave ASA $26 million and ASA bought XJT. ASA merged the two companies. The failed merger has ensued, approximately $300 million of SKW Inc. money has been lost. Inc has decided to proceed with the functional, profitable, non union work force, and is slowly shutting down the dysfunctional side as its contracts expire.
This is nothing like the Mesa/Freedom situation.

Rolled over? They made a business decision that allowed the current group of ERJ pilots to choose when they left. Had they not, your current CBA would have been gutted in BK court and the scraps sold off. You can bad mouth those guys all you want but they made a choice that has continued to benefit you to this day.
BTW, your language was written in one direction. Acquiring of another airline. It didn't take into account the other direction. Simply another sign of the complete arrogance you and your fellow pilots continue to show the world.

Sure, I completely agree it was a business decision. Just as it was a business decision for endeavor, PSA, PDT, and envoy to also concede. That doesn't mean I agree with it or that I agree with your assumption of bankruptcy. That was an unlikely outcome. If it wasn't skywest, it more than likely would've been someone else that cal would've paid to buy xjt. THAT was the business decision, not bankruptcy. The xjt MEC wanted to hitch their wagon to Skywest. They saw it as the least of the evils. By the way, your supposition about the way the scope language was written, could've only been answered by an arbitrator. Skywest knew this. This is why they wanted us to agree to strike that and the holding letter the first time they tried buy xjt. The second time, they agreed to buy xjt with the assurance from the xjt MEC that they would support the transaction and wouldn't greive it and send it to an arbitrator. In exchange, the bone they threw to the xjt MEC was merger of xjt and ASA instead.
The arrogance came from national. They are the ones who write the scope sections.
Don't really care if I upset those non-union pilots at Skywest. Even though the sequence of events may be different than Mesa/Freedom, they are going down the same road. The end result appears to be the same, despite CT's remark about it not being the same situation.
