Sorry to continue the diversion....

I'm on the L-Xjet side and had been looking at Spirit because they're a "step up" (I thought) and I live near a base. I'm on $37 at Xjet and with the hours I fly am on track to make way more than 20s or 30s for first 12 months even with the $300/week training pay. How few hours were you getting at Spirit? Every month I've was on reserve I broke guarantee, sometimes more than 100 hours, and now that I have a relief line I consistently aim to do 100 at least.

Edit: are you including per diem?

Not sure why people are making this up. What have you got against EDV?

I'm sorry that NK wasn't what you thought it would be, I hope that it gets better. However, being at NK is much better than being at ASA/XJT simply due to the fact that your airline has a future that it can control. ASA will likely cease to exist in 3 years (or less), same probably goes for L-XJT. At this point one can argue that going any airline, including another regional that is growing, is a better move than holding out hope at XJT.

Also, should your contract improve and/or a merger with F9 occur (which odds of both occurring in the next 2-5 years are better than not) and that new airline becomes the largest ULCC in the US with a contract to match, I'm sure your outlook will improve. You're in a good spot that many a XJT pilot would kill for.

If you're a XJT pilot, should Spirit offer you the job, take it...

Take it, get your 320 type and get out. I think most guys underestimate how valuable a new type rating is on your application.

We're all gonna be the same someday anyway so here's a question for you. At 9E I think our 200s trigger OUT and IN times different. We have to release the brake and then open or close the MCD and then bring the brake on again. Acars looks at when the last time the brake was released when the door opens.

Can you tell me what you guys do to trigger an OUt and IN time on EV birds?

I am going to go ahead and ignore the first sentence...

Out time: the first time the parking brake is released after the MCD is closed.

In time: the last time, after WOW, that the parking brake is set. The in time is triggered by the opening of the MCD.

One thing I noticed recently with the new 6 zone ACARS, was that we couldn't block out until AFTER we had our TDM back.

As for block in, say you land, stop, set the parking brake at 1500. You arrive at the gate at 1510, but don't set the parking brake and just hold the brakes, when the MCD is opened, it will send 1500 as the time. On the flip side, you arrive at 1510, you set the brake, wait 10 minutes to open the MCD until a gate agent arrives, it will send the 1510 time and not the 1520 time that the door actually opened, unless you release the parking brake for about 10 seconds and reset it. A lot of captains just don't understand this and they think it's the MCD that controls it.

This is good information. Thanks. 9E -200s are the opposite. To block out, you drop the brake, close the door and reset the brake. To block in you do the exact same thing. Drop, open, set.
