Part two. Less than 1,100 Captains

Personally, I don't see why we should give a crap what UPS pilots think about our contract. I will read it and if I like it, I will vote yes. If I don't like it, I will vote no. What UPS pilots say will have no bearing on my vote. They were up to the plate one year before we were and decided twice to take a contract extension which now has their top pay rate 5% below their June 2019 rate accounting for inflation. So when they say we need to raise the bar, it's because they don't want to do the heavy lifting themselves.
not just that but UPS screwed us . They accepted abysmally low rates and FedEx wants only to compare us to other cargo carriers. Thank God Hawaiian wasn’t so pathetic and actually took at least an inflation adjusted rate in their TA for their (non existant) freighters.

curious- why do you think this is the best environment to negotiate in?

we are overmanned significantly, we will not be released by the NMB, we’ve used our last leverage wit the SAV, the CO is largely run by an equity investment group that wants to cut costs dramatically, our CEO has plainly said we will be shipping far less on Express and more on “partner airlines”, we likely won’t be hiring for 5 years plus - heck even in the next 5 years we have only 1000 mandatory retirements and are more overmanned than that today.

so why is it the best environment??

UPS screwed us? I didn't know that was a negotiating tactic on UPS pilot's part. Seems UPS and FedEx had the highest pay rates for several years. You do know contracts change and pay rates go up with each contract? Perhaps waiting to see what the TA is all about might be an idea, no? I'm waiting for all the whining to keep going by a select few when the TA comes out and the pay rates aren't $1,000/hr, some people are never happy. And my God, I'm a no vote if we didn't get lie flat seats on this TA. You know we screwed UPS pilots on giving in to that concession.

The whole time the discussion was “pilots” but now you choose to say “captains.”

It's all that sleep deprivation getting to them. Really mixes up the brain and allows one to dream up their own reality

I cannot wait for the TA to come out as well so a select group of pilots and their representatives make it seem like our best and only option is to accept a contract that has less than industry leading pay, significant changes to current vacation policy, and a grab bag of other "efficiency improvements", because the alternative will be starting all over which they will say will drag on for years. Oh and they "fixed" retirement. This is almost like a forgone conclusion and Its pathetic!!!

This pilot group is the weakest I've ever seen in 30+ years of commercial flying.
