You might have an inefficient day still such as a one leg day with a short leg followed by a heavy day where you do 8-9 hours but the average drags that last day down, but it would eliminate the long low paying trips.
A more appropriate question would be. Is there a protection in another agreement that disincentivizes management from just pushing the show day 1 past 0000? If so we need something similar.

That is my concern. 10 hour 3 days get a ton of hate but a trip that starts at 00:01 and ends at 23:44 the same day sound way worse IMO. Or instead of our standard 10 hr 3 day as it is now we are adding victory laps on the beginning or end of trips so the company can get their $$ worth out of us.

A trip that starts at 0001 and ends at 2344 would pay 10 under our current agreement and daily guarantee average would do nothing for. It’s why you need both calendar/daily and duty rigs. Two separate thoughts. Daily and duty. Both are needed.
We had niether and got duty last round. That and tafb went from 1-3.75 to 1-3.5 to align with everyone else.

While technically, yes, it would be possible. We are talking about pushing back flights to 1:01am departures....

While I am sure they would LOVE to skirt the contract and push all of our pairings to departures like that with 12:01am shows, we also have to think of airport slots, gate slots, and when PEOPLE will actually want to fly. This together means that we will likely not see a bunch of increases in 1am departures.

But, imo,

yes, min daily of 5:15 ALONG with a duty rig of 4.8 or 5. Which would equal about an avg of 5:15 daily.

They could make it 1245 for outstation pilots but yes probably wouldn’t just start moving every redeye. Just some where it made sense.

Hence there also needs to be specific language that says if a trip starts after 10pm, or ends prior to 630am it pays a minimum of "x" hours or min duty credit. Basically get paid extra for redeye flying.

Right. I’m just saying I can see ways the company will make trips worse and the language won’t be as helpful as it sounds.

I was under the impression we weren’t asking for any holiday/redeye/321 overrides because we were more concerned about bringing the overall compensation number higher? I don’t know if that is still or even was our position but I disagreed with it.

A redeye override and holiday pay are both in the proposal by the union.

4 and 10 cover both Holiday pay and differential pay.
