I think Frontier hires a very wide variety of pilots. Some really young guys and some old guys. Wide variety of experience, background and age. There is no normal

Why would anyone go to Frontier or Spirit to work in this current environment? The regional airlines pay more, offer quick upgrades and offer flow through/interviews. You will make more money at a regional and are more likely to get to a major airline that actually pays its pilot's a fair wage. It is hard to believe I am actually saying this, but your future is better by going to a regional airline and staying away from Frontier and Spirit until they step up with a contract worthy of your skills as a pilot.

Each his own. 20-30 guys a month roll into Frontier, obviously it's not that black and white. Lol

Spirit has fantastic work rules compared to any regional out there.

For both Frontier and Spirit, the Airbus type rating and time in a heavier, more comfortable airplane to fly is more valuable than grinding it out in a CRJ/ERJ.

You will not make more money at a regional, maybe in year 1-2, but what about after that? the ULCCs pull away pretty quick and leave the regionals in the dust.

Both Spirit and Frontier are working new contracts that will take some time and will be hard-fought, but will leave them both in very good positions for their pilots.

If the economy tanks, where would you rather be? flying the CRJ into Aberdeen, SD or flying a bus from ORD to FLL?

Regionals are not even close on the work rules. Flow throughs, hope that one shot works or your flying a puddle jumper for a long time.
Banking on contracts with majors being renewed. No Thanks!!!
The one thing everyone knows at a regional is don't bank on a flow through!!

Why is year 1 always the end-all be-all with the forum police? I make far more on year 2 than I did after 7 years at the regionals. I'll never criticize anyone for improving their earning potential, especially when UAL doesn't call, as if snapping your fingers is all it takes.

Yup.

I like the his last sentence, "a contract worthy of your skills as a pilot." I busted out laughing cuz I have yet to see a regional contract satisfy that statement.
