I would like to nominate the Envoy guy who said "GUUUUUAAAARRRDDDDDD"
at least 23 times on 121.5 this am.
Genius-we can hear your voice answering calls on the ctr freq. We knew who it was......
But the point is:
(Is it really funny 23 times over two hours? Really?)

Don't get ridiculous. His original post said nothing about not allowing the FO to turn on the anti-ice.
I think the issue is, that freezingflyboy's original post reeked of arrogance. I've flown with arrogant pilots and it is a character trait that leaves the entire crew open to a whole mess of trouble.
I am by no means perfect, but whenever a fellow pilot asks me if I'm "sure" about something, my immediate response is.."absolutely not...I'll look it up."
I may be 100% positive in my brain, but if another professional pilot calls me on it, what makes me right and him wrong?
I hope that this was a learning moment for the OP.

Attention ALL TOTD readers: I was wrong! Apology owed. I get it.

Without getting into it further (lest I get even MORE crucified!), there is more to the story re this particular FO. As is often the case, that WAS my initial reaction. We had a longish turn so I went to look up it without much luck, as I was looking in the wrong place.

FFB reeks of arrogance and it's that arrogance that my Deltoid buds worry about. FFB went out of his way to belittle his F/O and made it known that the F/O was WRONG and FFB was RIGHT.
Besides, my Delta buds monitor forums like this for Delta newhires or potential newhires to let their guard down and show the world who they truly are, not who they wanted Delta HR to think of them. FFB has shown his true stripes over the issue and I'm sure that Delta HR is now aware.

Sorry FFB, apologies etc are nice. But to take that attitude at anytime during a flight is just plain unacceptable. Perhaps the next time that f/o thinks something isn't right, he just might keep his mouth shut, thinking he will once again be berated by his know it all captain. Perhaps a remedial CRM Initial course is the way to go for you. There is never a place for any arrogance in a modern aircraft in this day and age. If you had to fly several more legs with him, you probably lost him as an asset for the remainder of the rotation. You need to seek him out and apologize for not just not knowing basic jet engine winter ops, but also for your behavior as a captain.
As a very old timer here, I continually am amazed at the knowledge my f/o's might have of some obscure procedure or new company bulletin. And most of the time my response is, YGTBSM, wow I didn't know that.
But the fact you actually made the time to call him out as a TOTD on APC says a lot. Time for some serious CRM reflection.

ffb owned it. Obvioulsy intitally a pooor CRM decision. Really, what does it cost to turn on the AI on the ground and throw your FO a bone pending some research? Nothing. He allowed a personal bias to interfere. Rare is the pilot who hasn't, at some point, succumbed to that pitfall.
I commend him for his mea culpa. There are plenty of folks out there who won't own up.
