Excited for the window to be open.

Your non rev benefits, and jumpseat access through CASS start within your first week or so of indoc. You can jumpseat on anybody you want, or non rev on Alaska (lower priority) or Hawaiian flights. You won't have access to ZED fares on other carriers until 6 months or a year in, depending on what the agreement says. The bigger issue you are going to have is stacking enough days off to make a commute to PNS give you any reasonable block of time off at home.

commuting from pns to Hnl would suck holy hell!

commuting to cvg for cargo wouldn’t be as bad, not sure if it qualifies as a “gateway” city either so that also could suck. Come to think of it not sure if any more cargo spots are coming up in new hire classes

First of all…WOW, What? Why Aren’t you applying to the big three? Commute to Hawaii….?
ok, so, Alaska is the same company, for anyone in the near future anyway. There is no Codeshare, that’s another thing. There is no possible way to “bid CVG in the interim”. You have to be flying the cargo side and then you are based in CVG, even then it’s a one year freight freeze, and you’d be an A330 pilot, there is no guarantee getting the A330 in the next two classes or beyond for that matter.

All you can do is apply and see what you’re offered. I think there may be a couple 33F vacancies in the last bid. If offered a freight class, that’ll get you CVG and some commuter tickets per month.

Any idea how the awards might break down for each class?

No one knows this, we can speculate from what vacancies remain from a particular vacancy award.
The last award did reveal three seats for freight.
The other vacancies in the last vacancy award are in all planes except the 787.

I suspect that after the SLI is completed, it will be years before a new hire can even sniff a 787.

That’s up for debate also, if there’s a fence for the plane, who knows how it will defined, but in theory only Hawaiian legacy could bid it, unless new hires could then be assigned it as a new hire if it goes unfilled during a position/vacancy bid, depending how long a fence is in place…sorry there will a thousands “ifs”.
This conversation will cover the next 5 or so pages of comments.
So, I think new hires could get it. Primarily because we’ll need 100’s more FOs for augmented flights.

that’s not accurate. If there is a fence and no Hawaiian pilots bid for the vacancy slots then Alaska pilots would have the opportunity bid for the openings. Could new hires get 787? Yes, but Alaska pilots on property would get a crack at it before new hire Alaska pilots.
