It VDA and RSA favors those that live in base. Concession for who? Not a concession at all? Are you gonna miss all the stuff that favors pilots in base. IMHO it should be about seniority and seniority only.

At my previous carrier we had global open time and anything picked up on your days off was 1.5. Yeah it would even it out as you don’t have to be in base to rsa/vda (I know you don’t “need” to be in base for the vda)

It will be interesting to watch but will definitely change the dynamics but living in base you will still be able to grab stuff. You will just see what it is first.

If someone has a trip tomorrow but swaps into a Premium OT window trip today will that still pay 150%? If so it could just drag out the IROPS even longer since everyone will dump their next day trips for shorter duration, higher paying premium trips today.

Let’s get this straight. We were in a labor dispute just over a year ago and you are saying you were actively doing VDA’s?

Looks like no swapping into / out of premium stuff. Check out page 153. Darn

I also think the VDA/RSA stuff will be mostly finished…seems the company does too as they gave a bit more on each of those (VDA goes to 200%/ RSA 175%). But who knows, we’ll see. To HB’s point it does afford commuters some action so that’s a big plus. But my big thing is you’ll definitely have to hawk Flica (suxs) and 150%...not THAT exciting.

Ideally I’d like to see something like United has. Apparently over there you can put premium dibs, so to speak, on pairings in open time. So basically if that pairing goes from regular open time to premium you’ll automatically get it (if you’re the most senior person with dibs).

Agreed. This new Premuim open time pick up is for just pick up at 150%. This will only take stuff off the board not add to it helping the company get flying assigned. You must be off and they entice you to get off the sofa.

The more senior you are the more days off you probably have which means a more seniority based system. Yay. Not where you live seniority. And you may not need the reflexes of a cheetah (maybe just a lethargic honey badge) to possibly make some extra money if you want, of course. IMHO

Thanks for looking it up, I am admittedly lazy but figured that was going to be the answer.

A big attraction of the VDA is lineholders being bought off next day trips to cover a VDA today. I think VDA will survive because there will be many willing to work for $$$ but unable to swap into Premium OT trips. It will be interesting to see how it plays out
