If you've been offered a class date, I'd reach out to recruitment pretty quickly to try the get an exemption, but getting a medical exemption is pretty much impossible unless you already have a critical disease or severe allergy to the vaccination ingredients, and sincerely held religious exemptions are also pretty difficult to receive, looking at just the military they're denying almost all of them.
Again, not starting a debate on the vaccine itself, just the facts of the current state of things.
I know someone (who used to post on here) who has a medical exemption from jetblue. Most MEs got approved it sounds like. REs are basically on hold until the courts settle it from what I can tell. There are over 300 in an anti-mandate group at jetblue who don’t have and won’t get a clotshot. Can’t speak to new hires though, only existing employees, but I’d at least try for an exemption. If they won’t give it to you, I’d tell them to shove their mandate up their ass and go somewhere else.

Without getting into Political arguments. Being vaccinated is a current requirement for new hires at jetblue, it’s listed in the info provided to interview. Its also industry standard for almost all US Major airlines now to require it of new hires. It’s different for those who were on property pre-CoVid. I’d reach out about an exemption sooner rather than later. But I’d set expectations low. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong or that I agree or don’t.. Just giving info that’s out there.

If he made it this far into the process without being asked about, I wouldn’t rule out an exemption. Especially with the way we’re losing pilots.

Thanks a lot for the detailed info! It gives a really good idea of what to expect. I'm wondering if some other people could confirm if this is about the same as their experience?

MOD INPUT: You can factually discuss *airline specific* covid vaccine policies in the airline forums. Basically limited to Q&A and clarification.

For covid/vaccine philosophical debates, go to the covid fourm.

I’ll post this again since it’s buried 10 pages back now as another example. I interviewed in late fall, and am still in class now.

Day 1 - Application submitted

Day 6 - Invite for virtual video interview

Day 9 - Video interview completed

Day 42 - In-person interview invite received

Day 65 - Interview in Orlando conducted

Day 66 - Moved on to phase II/panel review pending notification email

Day 73 - Panel approval received, class date offered

Day 95 - Phase II completed

Day 122 - First day of class!

Day 170 - Still in training, several weeks to go

48 days into training and several weeks to go? Are you on the 190? Did you have some breaks?

Yep E190. 30 days off after indoc. Multiple periods of 2-3 days off between sim days. Really looking forward to getting back to flying and a normal paycheck.

Does it seem as if the delay is getting longer or shorter?

No idea. Some classmates in Orlando that had a shorter break than me have had lots of delays - one got 11 days off randomly from cancelations. Another got 7 unexpected days off and then another 4 off. To be clear, the instructors here have all been great and are working really hard. There just aren’t enough of them.
