They are… obviously they can’t just grab a bunch of gates in Boston and start flying to every single JetBlue destination but look at trends in the industry and overall profitability.
Delta also doesn’t care about us. We’re not a threat to anyone and if we disappeared tomorrow our flying (the profitable routes) would be absorbed.
We used to be a threat when we first started out but now that the industry has evolved so much and we’re stuck in 2010, I think we’re just holding onto a life raft at this point.
This is a last ditch effort (the lounges and first class)… while everyone else already has that and a solid network and CC. The rich are getting richer and they don’t fly JB. The middle class and poor are struggling and guess who flies us.
I don’t know if you forgot but we’re trying to be the number one LEISURE carrier. /s

Yes, B6 wants to be the number one LEISURE airline because that is where their wheel
house is. Leisure means just that leisure. Nothing more. It doesn’t mean rich or poor or middle class. You can have people in all tax brackets that travel for leisure.
Lounges, FC, and CCs, IDK if it’s a last ditch as much as it is just an inevitable shift. Yes, JB is a little late to the game in that aspect. The outcome of how successful this shift is still a few years away I would think.

Just curious but what difference would a narrow body pilot domicile make in the grand scheme of things?

A lot of pilots in Boston are at B6 because of Boston. They live locally and don't want to deal with a commute to JFK or elsewhere. Delta opening a base there that is similar in size to the B6 base would give a lot of guys reason to try and jump ship. If they were to put a NB base and keep the WB base there as well, that opens up opportunity for movement and career advancement.

Agreed, but I think it would have stronger effects on future hiring prospects for local BOS pilots seeking airline employment. I'll be honest, if back in 2011 Delta had a similar BOS base as JB then I would have at least tried to get hired. Hat and submarine commander suit be damned

Well we can't say for sure, but what's more valuable? Seniority at JB or at DL? If you're in your 50s with many years of service at B6, that person probably won't be going anywhere. If you're in your 30s or even early/mid 40s? That's a different story I would think. It takes 10 years to even upgrade at JB these days, and then you'll be junior forever. There's next to no movement except for minimal retirements here, while DL you'd still be progressing up the ladder as people leave above you AND get hired below you. End of the day, DL is a more secure job than B6, and for some losing their B6 seniority to be junior at a theoretical DL NB BOS base would be worth the jump.
