Meanwhile, A320 FO in MCO is going way backwards. 4 guys out and only one guy in. No change whatsoever on the 190 side in MCO.

In the future they may have to change to a technical interview if recency is a concern? That seems to be the issue with a lot of us. The "hire the person we know you can fly" doesn't fit if a candidate adequately completed the TMAAT format and is then eliminated four months later based on recency issues.

We had some guys fail and with the sims going 24/7 there is no slack built in for this. It may have been the easy way out but it is what it is.
I am sorry that many people had to wait so long for a tbnt email of all things, they should have made a phone call.

It's the classic "rather set one guilty man free than send an innocent to jail" scenario. In my opinion you can teach/refresh the technical skills but the customer service stuff is innate: you either have that persona (it's not all about me) or not.
The analogy is the legacy carriers and furloughs. What about a guy that's been sitting idle for 5+ years as a plumber and is contractually obligated to be brought back? I'd be curious to see how many of those have failures and/or difficulty in training. I get it, it's a numbers game and when you're the house the odds are always in your favor. Statistics apply to generalizations not the individual. There's still a fairly large pool to select from and as long as that's the case, statistics that support generalizations will be applied.

Overall experience with the interview process left me with a unprofessional feel from the people department at jetBlue. After 5 months from the time I interviewed I got a phone call followed by the TBNT email. This process didn't seem to reflect the company values of jetBlue. Just my experience, Good luck to all!

That's a double edged sword, though. If you ditch the TMAAT questions for a tech interview then you run the risk of hiring guys with technical knowledge that will treat your customers and the people around them like crap. I guess we have a few of those anyway, but I could see the floodgates opening up. I know at my last carrier (yeah, it's a regional, but from an HR standpoint, it's not THAT different), it was all techincal for the interview. We had some guys that could quote you he FARs and did great in the sims, but when put in interpersonal situations, they didn't do so well. When you're fighting for every last customer and your reputation is built on customer service like ours, that's not really a road we need to go down.

No reason why we couldn't ask BOTH technical and TMAAT questions in the interview. Great to have nice people flying our planes and helping the customers when able, but when the poop hits the fan I'd much rather have someone who is competent and experienced in the right seat than someone who pushes wheelchairs. My wife is a great woman and very personable. However, I don't want her in the cockpit nor does she belong there.
