This recency topic seems to have "spooked the herd." Myself and a few other Military pilots whom interviewed in Oct for the most part are on Terminal Leave while in Phase II. My last flight was Sept 22nd and had 400+ hrs for the year. When and if called, are they going to ask if we are actively flying while waiting in Phase II? Should those of us in this situation be renting a plane to do some civilian flying?

When you say "recency issues" what kind of flight hours/time are we talking about? Over the last 1 yr - 2 yrs - 3yrs - etc.?
I have 500 last 12 months - 88 in 2013 - 0 in 2012 -0 in 2011. ~3200 TT (all turbine). 1700 PIC.
Military IP flying the T-6B II Texan. Should I be concerned?

Dada - I don't think you need to be concerned. I interviewed Sep 30 - in phase 2 still. Similar hours - military, 4000 total (C-130/T-44). 600 hours in 2014 in a king air 350, 80 hours in 2013, 0 in 2011 and 2012. At my exit interview, Chief Pilot asked about my total last 12 months. I said 595 - he said we'll call it 600 and we're really looking for a min of 200 over the last 12 months. I don't have a class date yet but it was pretty clear 200 in last 12 was good enough.
It's hard not to "overthink" or "overanalyze" every detail in this process.
Hoping for the best!

From the Vets in Blue session last week, they said that currency is not an issue for someone coming straight out of the military, because they understand that mil flying has reduced. They said they do a lookback of 4 years for the 200 hours for mil guys - and even then those with less are considered on a case by case basis.
They said that it is in the civilian world that the 200 hours in the last 12 months is a hard rule - and that is because there are so many applicants, and only Bluedarts are waived for the 200 hours.
Std Deviation - looks like you got lucky (unless you were a Bluedart). Somehow you got an interview, when maybe you shouldn't have (due to currency). When they realized the lack of currency at the PHC, they did the right thing for you, while also factoring that you shouldn't have gotten the interview in the first place. They didn't make you reinterview or turn you down, but they did ask for you to get the 200 hours - to be fair to all the other guys in your situation who didn't even get an interview. In any case, its great that you have a class date. If we ever get to fly together - free beers on me.

No dart. Had a bunch of ancillary experience that I presume is valuable. Published aviation safety author, keynote CRM speaker, first name basis with NTSB board members, etc. You're right though - interview at the time was a longshot (but hey, I'm a retired racing Greyhound owner so long shots are my thing..) Again, don't fault JB in the process. Happy to be here now. Just for grins... The magic number was 200 hrs in the last 12 months.

06 Nov interview - Got the Phase II email this morning!
Very excited about JetBlue! The experience/people/facilities made me feel like JetBlue was where I wanted to be and needed to be.
