JetBlue Latest and Greatest
After 20 years of airline contracts, I know that the company always has better lawyers than ALPA
If there’s a word in the LOA, it was put there by company lawyers for a reason. if there’s a word missing, it was left out by company lawyers for a reason.
The expectation (and the reality) is that most pilots will focus on the pay table, make their decision, and then maybe browse the rest of the TA. They will not dissect the fine print. I can guarantee the company will exploit every word of the fine print to their advantage in ways we can’t even predict until after it’s done. The company is playing chess and ALPA is playing checkers. Not a slam on our NC, because it’s the same at every ALPA carrier out there.

I wouldn’t be surprised if WARN letters show up just before the voting windows close. Uncle Joe and Cousin Chuck in DC will get stimulus Bill 3.0 thru and we would get the same furlough protections as the LOA offers. Guarantee me no furloughs and a minimum 3% raise per year as long as the agreement is in place with a review every year maybe 2 years and I might be tempted. I’m a hard NO on this TA.

My understanding is that it can be done before 60 days just not after. I have been on the sending end of WARN letters and that was the legal advise I received. In a previous life we pushed back the closing of a business because we didn’t want to send out the letters on a Friday.. In fact I just texted my lawyer buddy he confirmed it. They can send them out before 60 days just not after.

190 guys especially should be ****ting bricks over this agreement.
Just think about it - everyone jokes about the 190 - JB express, etc. and yes, we somehow allow them to put us in ****ty ass regional hotels, too, but that’s a different thread... And yes, rumor has it that the 190s days are numbered, but it ain’t over til it’s over - no reason to hasten it...
My point is - it’s a valuable airframe because it’s flown at a real airline under a real airline contract at real airline pay (spare me, you know what I mean). Now we can outsource it all to a slightly smaller but similar airframe to pilots paid significantly less (who, like most of us here, would rather be flying at the real airline at much higher pay).
This agreement will almost certainly hasten the demise of the 190 and all those lower seniority captain slots. Why fly short hops on a significantly more expensive 190 when you can replace it with a 175 at a fraction of the cost?
For what? A one time insulting bump of 2%? How did this make it out of the MEC?

This TA is pathetic and insulting. If it gets more than a 10% yes vote I’ll be very disappointed. We need to send a strong message. There is absolutely nothing they could offer me to agree to that scale of a “codeshare” with AA. 10 years?! We’ll likely be looking at CBA 3 by that point and desperately trying to recapture everything we gave up in this TA. All for 2% COLA( (which is insulting in the regular CBA). This is insane we even got a chance to read it.

It’s going to be really important that we call and text our friends.
A ton people aren’t flying right now. They are out of the loop and don’t visit any of the social media platforms.
Make sure your engaging them!
