This is a major scope give and honestly not sure anything would make me vote yes to this language.

This need an entire rewrite!

The message I wrote, which you quoted, says at the very end "more limited scope relief".

We agree.

While I agree Profit Sharing won't make the current requested level of scope relief acceptable, I also believe the company wants very badly to do more than the original LOA allows.

So I think they will push for another agreement.

But if they don't, I'm fine with that as well. I don't need a 1 time 2% bump bad enough to give up the level of scope they are asking for.

Not even close.

And the implications for future joint CBA negotiations in the event JB+AA attempt to merge are also concerning.

Great point.
What happens with an AA merger/acquisition in the next few years with this in the LOA?? Wouldn’t it weaken our (pilots) position to tighten scope at the new combined company?

My opinion is yes, it would weaken JB pilots position.

I mean seriously, why are we even talking about RJ hub to hub?

190 guys especially should be ****ting bricks over this agreement.

Just think about it - everyone jokes about the 190 - JB express, etc. and yes, we somehow allow them to put us in ****ty ass regional hotels, too, but that’s a different thread... And yes, rumor has it that the 190s days are numbered, but it ain’t over til it’s over - no reason to hasten it...

My point is - it’s a valuable airframe because it’s flown at a real airline under a real airline contract at real airline pay (spare me, you know what I mean). Now we can outsource it all to a slightly smaller but similar airframe to pilots paid significantly less (who, like most of us here, would rather be flying at the real airline at much higher pay).

This agreement will almost certainly hasten the demise of the 190 and all those lower seniority captain slots. Why fly short hops on a significantly more expensive 190 when you can replace it with a 175 at a fraction of the cost?

For what? A one time insulting bump of 2%? How did this make it out of the MEC?

For all the “no” voters, remember to have these discussions with everyone you fly with or interact with. We all know there’s a very large portion of this pilot group who don’t read forums and will assume this is beneficial to the pilots since it was voted on 12-2 by the LEC and passed on to the pilot group. This thing MUST NOT pass because people were uninformed!

The only acceptable scope waiver would be to allow a deal that the company could have done already pre-Covid, i.e. a block hour and pilot count waiver. This is far in excess of that. It allows a whipsaw of a lot of our flying against both AA and Eagle. It guts scope with regards to American, for up to 11 years. None of that is acceptable regardless of the money, the length of the agreement, or damned Flica windows. If we pass this, it's game over.

Why not just merge at this point? I assume it’s because the time it takes to actually do a merger is too long. The companies need increased cash flow now. This is a fast way to consolidate resources, aka a quasi merger.
