Who are you comparing yourself to? The average 9-5 salesman? I worked harder in high school and college than they did, and sacrificed a hell of a lot more than they did. My siblings got real jobs and make way more than all but probably the top 3 execs at JB. My friends getting real jobs out of the military are making more than most JetBlue pilots, certainly starting out. Other professionals with similar intelligence, work ethic, and who have made similar financial and personal sacrifices to attain those jobs, is who I relate my compensation to, along with other major airline pilots (excluding the likes of spirit and frontier). Not burger flippers or the median/average knucklehead in America. I wish you and other "just lucky to have a job here, I'd do it for free, or at least 30% less than my peers bc of culture" landyard-less, non-unity peeps would get it. You aren't a regional pilot. Our first year and in some cases 2nd/3rd year pilots make less than many regional pilots, after spending years there already. And you think we are well compensated? Sickening.

If my wife didn't have income, and I hadn't gotten lucky investing my deployment money and other money I stashed away when I was single, I couldn't afford to give my wife, kids, and myself a decent standard of living off my JetBlue income and benefits. I don't know what is "very well paid" about that.
Sounds like you made better deployment decisions than I did. I won't be anywhere close to making what I made on active duty until year 4 or 5 at JB, and I have a less predictable schedule, less flexibility, and see less of my family. But hey, at least my debt is growing out of control as I wait for industry standard compensation!

For the "if you don't like it, leave" crowd, I'm trying, not sure why I'm not getting called.

I'm still dealing with a six figure pay cut, not a six figure income. Maybe next year.

Quit *****in everyone...it's a chat room, so nothing will come out of it. If you want to see what JB's payscale might look like soon, check out HAL's because it probably will be within 10% of that! Good Day!
If you want top pay, then go to a top pay airline...a low budget airline is what we work for, so expect discount pay! Top pay airlines don't name all their planes with cute names on the nose. They also have commercials that talk about world destinations! That's another subtle hint if you don't understand what I'm saying!

I didn't work harder than the people I went to high school with or college for that matter, yet here I am.. same position as u. You chose the wrong profession sir. If you want to make more than all but the top three execs here..quit aviation all together. Buuuuut your still coming to work for same ****ty pay so... keep on keeping on..

Which one? That a fellow pilot is who makes this airline suck? That someone with a different perspective than him should stay out of his cockpit?

In short I do understand his points but vehemently disagree with them. I understand they come from someone who has lost perspective and logic and operates in a constant state of entitlement and conflict. I understand he sees himself as a victim and everyone else around him is making his life miserable. His very screen name implies he is alone soldiering on through some unseen force trying to get him but he doesn't realize it's his own **** poor mentality.

I don't think he's lost perspective. I think he's frustrate and that's exacerbated by people that say things like "well if you we're a pipe layer or a coal miner you'd be making $45k a year... you should feel lucky".

Entitlement comes from those who haven't earned anything. We've worked hard. Put in time. Sucked it up. Done the hard things. We are entitled to better.

Even though his delivery is harsh. It's on point.

Wow, that escalated quickly from "you're paid enough to afford a decent meal, so we shouldn't accept these crappy hotels or crappy locations with cheap food nearby" to "you should be lucky to make as much as you do, even if you are compensated 30-40% less than your buddy doing the same job."

Wow. I've got no words. Pathetic. So pathetic.

Just read the past two pages to understand why so many guys want to get the **** out of this place. If you're not depressed and angered by your paycheck, you will be by fellow pilots who rationalize all this BS.

Take one look at my paycheck and tell me to my face I'm well paid. Please. Oh and explain that to my family too. That is the most condescending and aggravating horse**** I've read on this board recently. Makes my blood boil.

Rode in 190 js the other week. Captain wasn't wearing an ALPA lanyard and did his welcome announcement from the galley. FO tells me "he's a typical Boston juicer".

So let me get this straight. JB's overall compensation package is like 40% below industry standard and there is a decently large subset of the pilot group that is content with the way things are going?

Things aren't perfect at SWA - but damn. Guys like that would get a blanket party from where I'm from.
