Safety is key. SOP is there for a reason. Never do anything that’s unsafe you could be held accountable if something goes wrong and someone is hurt.

Unless I just coincidentally happen to fly with an abnormally high percentage of lanyard wearers and commute on a disproportionately high number of lanyardless pilots flights, as well as abnormal interaction swapping planes, in the crew room, terminal, and when they nonrev and say hi on flights I’m operating. I bet Ford Harrison has the true breakdown and I’m guessing it’s irrelevant to equipment.
I'm a BOS 190 Guy and I'm gonna second this, sort of. I had a CA do one recently and it was the first time in months. I also commute on 320s, but I haven't really seen anyone doing them there, though. I had a CA when I first started that put it very simply... He didn't want to star in anyone's YouTube post.

Ya Boston 190 captains are higher. My commute to bos on the bus is mostly all day trippers so most do stand ups and half are lanyardless. (Captains, no the fo normally)

I can say 100% of the stand ups drop the brake before we are cleared to push. Which of course I have a problem with. Just speak up about not being SOP and things will change. Also I’ve witnessed on my last 2 trips captains going back to Mint and greeting each pax personally. Anyone else seeing this? Just can’t believe after this summer and profit sharing being cut there’s people out there that think they’re gonna get something in return for going above and beyond

Yep. It's hard to watch the operation melting around us and the captain feels it's his job to do everything above and beyond to do his best to get it back on track. I say let the wheels fall off and maybe they will realize you are important.

4- Well, they're in the middle of their safety demo. Sure would hate to call them and interrupt....
