I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s going to depend on which base/plane you’re on. Just did a VDA this week to a delay-prone airport (ORD) that was getting hammered with thunderstorms all day. Plenty of reserves that day, but they needed a new crew immediately. Premium open-time pot ain’t gonna be the answer for those situations, it’s just not.

Correct.
Missed that.
It will take time to see how this all shakes out. The current VDA with paper DH was the first domino after RSA because it was based upon system-wide seniority.
This I would imagine will be the last domino before the flight CNXs after POTFCFS, RSA, VDA, GOT rostering, then ...

It's funny how many of you are communists when it comes to work. You see to want everyone to work the same amount, and make the same income. Very strange.

The ones complaining are almost always commuters as well. They don’t have the opportunity to RSA or VDA like local guys have. And as you said it’s really a minority of guys on message boards complaining about it. It’s certainly not the opinion of most line pilots.

I agree. It should be a personal choice thing. As long as you're working within the confines of the CBA, all is good. The guys who want to fly a lot make life better for the ones who don't. I do wish our drop policies were a bit more liberal. But JetBlue operates on the cheap. They will never upgrade enough captains to be "fat" unless it is accidental. So, I say take advantage of that fact. No matter how we behave, they will run things lean.
